Not bothering to look it up but it was reported many times that the ships have to navigate around a small rock/island that forced the ships even closer to Iran. That was the increased threat.

A normal person questions antiquated media outlets at this point because in reality, they were given credibility based on no one challenging their BS. They have no where near the credibility they deserve. We now know how much propaganda they spread on behalf of snakes.
