Biden. The Clinton’s. And here come progressives. It would be such a relief to have our candidate now, and not in August— after they have done the Rs job for them and bloodied each other.

Please get Gretchen Whitmer for VP. (Yeah— I know it will be a straight moderate white guy).

Obama declines to endorse Kamala. Looks forward to a strong candidate emerging in the coming days.

Ouch!

Except Obama did endorse Hillary. And didn’t endorse Biden in 2020 until he was the clear winner. Dude was an amazing President. But, he has been much less successful in picking winners after he left office. I have two college kids, so I’m watching the progressive wing to see if they get on board or put u through another round of pouting, like they did when Bernie lost (and he did lose open primaries). If Gen Z turns out—and they did in 2022— Harris wins. Boomers have power, because Boomers vote. Watching Gen Z carefully….

Yep.

"We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges."

Oh wow. That’s not good.

He may have wanted to acknowledge Biden separately from praising his replacement.

Give the process time to play out.

That’s what he should have goddamned done. He’s cold and terribly petty as often as not, let’s be real here.

I suspect those who bleat "DEI" also had no problem voting for a VP who needed five mediocre colleges and six years, just to get a communications degree.

Funny how you can be some GED felon and get votes from the same people who think Justice Jackson is a "DEI" hire. But sure, no racism involved in your thought-process while we see the buffoons who get elected on the right.

Defending DEI and blasting its critics mindlessly as “racist” is just not the centrist platform the Dems need right now to turn this election around.

It isn't about defending it, it's about pointing out the extremely low standards required of WHITE politicians on the right while in the same breathe as calling anyone non-white a "DEI" hire.

That you called it "mindless" when anyone with even two, functioning brain cells can see the racism from those who attack it, is your limitation.

The same people who think Boebert is qualified to be in Congress, think Jackson has no business being on the SC, despite the fact that she is more qualified than several of her white counterparts. Tough sh*t if you can handle the glaring hypocrisy from the right. We all see it. The Obamas had to be the "Huxtables" while Trump could get away with being Bill Cosby. Spare me your inability to see the cancer of racism being the entire reason someone as disgusting as Trump IS the Republican party. That stupid man wouldn't know the constitution if Madison used puppets to explain to him. The moment he used racism was the moment he galvanized the party. Mediocrity for one race, rules the GOP and has for a long time. It's why someone as unqualified as Dubya became president. It's why a moron like Palin got to be a nominee. The GOP has NO standards.

Boebert was voted into her current position. Harris couldn't even win a primary for President. How will they credibly argue she can win swing states?

I don't think Harris can win. I'm the one who said I dislike her. I simply don't like her, but that doesn't change the fact that the GOP is a f***ing joke when they talk about "DEI" when their party is full of people who are the reason dry cleaning bags read: "This is not a toy." Where in the hell does ANY Republican get the nerve to talk about "DEI" with the morons they elect and nominate? Dubya was a C/D student who got into two of the most prestigious universities in the world. Palin was an idiot.

The GOP doesn't get to mention "DEI" when they vote for ACTUAL affirmative action candidates.

29 year old Kamala did have an affair with a married man who helped her with her political career.

That should win over some Trump voters. Or does she not have enough affairs on her resume to impress the Republican base?

I think sleeping with a man who helps you succeed in your career is different than just having an affair. Would Kamala be where she is today if she hadn’t slept with a 60 year old married mayor? He appointed her to highly paid government positions and admitted her helped her with her career. So she slept with him to get jobs? Yes.

The GOP should 100% definitely slut shame the former AG of and Senator from California for the affair she had 30 years ago. Make sure you emphasize that no woman can ever transgress against the retrograde double standard if she ever wants to accomplish anything in her life but that men have free rein to do so.

Ohhhh no it's not - not in evangelical circles. And I don't think Trump surrogates will be able to stay away from the issue. Trump/MAGA already have a problem with women. This is not going to help. Can you imagine Donald Trump choking out the words that's it's perfectly fine for women to make the choice not to have children. Not to mention the evangelical reaction to that. Very rock and a hard place position here.

She just has to own it.

White nationalists should have a grudging respect for a black and brown woman who doesn't have kids. She's setting a good example for white nationalism.

Good point - I hadn't thought about it that way. The ad just writes itself!!!

Idk. That is not going to play well with a lot of important voters that already don’t trust the system. This is an ad that would appeal to wealthy white liberal women (which is what I assume you are) but I do not think will play will with groups that have a lot of good reason not to trust prosecutors.

Criminals don't generally vote, but hopefully, many would rather trust anyone else other than a convicted criminal and rapist.

The party of law and order *should* prefer a prosecutor over a criminal, but up is down and down is up now, so.

It's true that Obama hasn't publicly said anything about who should replace Biden.

And you know what, Obama has been and continues to be wrong but is put on a pedestal, because he made people feel he was a good president. He was wrong multiple times on his foreign policy, wrong when he told Biden not to run, so Clinton could, and now wrong again for trying to wait it out and give the dems some other person to elect. OBAMA HAS BEEN WRONG.

That alone is a massive turn off to a huge number of voters. She's never known what it is like to be a mother of her own kids and had to make sacrifices to make a career and family work.

A presidential candidate who doesn't have kids is just unelectable in this country. It's the way it is.

I believe this is the stupidest thing I’ve read yet on this thread.

+1 let's be honest, MAGA would rather vote for a rapist, criminal, 3x married swine who cheats on his wife while she's pregnant, than a woman who's never had a child, as if that's sooo important to being a POTUS. As if Trump has ever changed a diaper or had to juggle parenting responsibilities with working for a company.

-mother of two and former R

In all fairness, Kamala had an affair with a married man with 3 kids. And married man who helped her get ahead in her political career.

In September 1958, Brown married Blanche Vitero, with whom he had three children. He has four grandchildren and a step-granddaughter. According to a 1984 New York Times article, Brown and Vitero separated amicably in 1982.[80] James Richardson, a reporter for The Sacramento Bee, said of Brown, "The measure of his flamboyance is he'll go to a party with his wife on one arm and his girlfriend on the other."[81]
Brown also has a daughter, Sydney Brown, with philanthropic fundraiser Carolyn Carpeneti.[56]
From 1994 to 1995,[82] Brown dated Kamala Harris, who worked as an Alameda County Deputy District Attorney at the time and was 30 years his junior. In 1994 Brown appointed Harris to the state Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board and later to the California Medical Assistance Commission.[83] Their relationship gained renewed attention in early 2019 after she had become a U.S. senator and ran for president.[61][62][63]

Wait, so the guy had been separated for years?

How can they raise this in light of Trump’s track record?

The sexism is galling.

He just released his formal statement about 15 minutes ago and he did not endorse anyone or even mention Kamala. Not sure if he’s trying to appear neutral or he really doesn’t think she’s the right choice.

Given she is VP, this is tantamount to an anti-endorsement:

"We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges."

I think Obama’s phrasing is targeted and ultimately regrettable. I think the inclusion of this language, to be -this- pass-agg pointed so quickly, is a real mistake on his part. Disappointing. But not surprising.

Either the analysis paralysis he is known for or he's mad he wasn't told ahead of time. In the end it doesn't make any difference. It will be swept away in the news cycle.

Civil war to come. This is not good. Should be unified around Harris to have a chance to win. If there is fighting around pushing out Harris, party is doomed!

I hope that the Dems remember the ugliness when Bernie didn't win the nomination. I agree Dems need to coalesce around the nominee.

I think (hope) people will be glad to have a younger person that they can support, anyone other than Trump or Biden. So many people are just sick of old farts trying to run our country.

The resentment this time is minuscule compared to Hillary/Bernie. This will be very easy to overcome.

People also Love saying that young people hate Harris. Name a presidential candidate that young people overwhelmingly support that wouldn't immediately lose.

? Young people I know love Harris.

She's very unpopular with young people and progressives because of her prosecution record. I don't know a single person who thinks of Kamala other than "Copmala"

Only Californians really know or care about her history.

I dont think Biden stepping out helps us at all. And I think if it’s Harris at the top, the sexism Hillary experienced is only going to be amplified by racism. There’s no good option here.

Time to prepare for a Trump presidency.

Mark Kelly as VP would make everything right. Now his resume is impressive —This has given me hope.

Thank you! I’m TIRED of that. He’s a goddamned entertainment producer/listicle guy at the moment. He can take his goddamned thumbs off of scales when he chooses. The ego is beyond.

Harris of all people should have seen this coming 4 years ago, and spent 4 years building her brand. But she's a Democrat, and Democrats hate winning.
