Great episode - I actually laughed out loud several times. The blood discussion was hilarious. And the scenery - breathtaking. One reason I love this show!
I think the brothers really were trying to tank the deal, but Mattson’s big bump was too much to refuse. They weren’t expecting that. Greg - cringeworthy!! “The Quad Squad.” |
Mattson wanted to see their faces because he had outmaneuvered them. Guys like him don’t care about the money, they care about winning. As per usual, Kendall and Rome tried to tank the deal so ham-handedly that Mattson saw it coming a mile away. By calling Frank directly, the brothers couldn’t suppress the offer and he made it so high that the board will almost have to approve. So, it’s kind of hilarious that they finally did a good job, but for all the wrong reasons? It will be interesting what kind of poison pills Kendall tries to dream up now. He really doesn’t want to lose control of Waystar because he knows he’ll never build anything on his own (and he’s right about Mattson not understanding the company). |
I don’t think Kendall will further try to tank this deal. They’ll take the money and do the Pierce deal. |
Did the pierce assume they still had ATN? I wonder what happens now as they will be an ATN competitor not adding to it. Wonder if Pierce backs out. |
FYI Lukas's name is spelled: Matsson |
Shiv got the deal done. He liked her, reminded him of her father “not judge”. He followed all of her advice; Kept ebba-don’t fire her/stop sending blood Trust Gerri Carolina is good Nah- don’t get rid of Tom Just keep offering more money. They were in on it which is why he had her send a photo of the brothers on the plane. |
a half a liter of blood? |
How do we know he hasn’t fired Ebba? Wouldn’t keeping Carolina off the kill list suggest he’s getting rid of Ebba? |
I love when Roman tells Matsson he hates him and Kendall tells him that they are already rich. |
Kendall continues to annoy the f*K out of me, just like back when he was in charge before his breakdown and when he went rogue.
He wanted to tank the deal before they even left for Norway. He said so in the home office and they all told him it was a stupid idea. He always wants to be so cool and bad*ss, but comes off like a schmuck. He gets too caught up in his vision of himself. Logan crossed his name off the list because he saw he was awful and impulsive and unpredictable and prone to addiction, mental weakness. |
If he did, he’s the stupidest mofo on the planet, and Ebba is about to become a very rich woman. |
I didn’t. Two privileged a**holes being rude to another privileged a**hole? Nothing to root for here. At least Matsson is self-made. |
I also loved the scenery but it also reminded me how much I hate most of these people. They were all so annoyed to be there and totally unimpressed and complaining about their cabins being small when obviously it was just an amazing place that few people get to see. It's one thing when they are blasé about private planes and fancy NYC apartments or whatever. I can see how that stuff would get old after a while and how if you are used to just having really nice stuff and really good service constantly, you'd stop caring. But when you see rich people just not caring about something like being able to take a gondola to the top of a mountain in Norway and see for a zillion miles in one of the most stunning places on earth... it makes me hate them. I have some friends from college who are this kind of rich and they are kind of like this when they travel. They've lost the ability to be wowed by pretty much anything. I feel sorry for them and I also think their wealth and access is wasted on them. It seems like a lot of ungodly rich people are very unhappy because nothing impresses or delights them anymore, they never feel lucky or honored, they are just kind of over it. Really sad. |
+1 I thought that moment when Kendall and Roman were complaining about having to come to Norway right after their dad died, and Matsson tells them about finding his own dad's body (and implying that he committed suicide in his car, which is just devastating) and they say nothing and then Matsson prompts them to be empathetic... it was so sad and telling. They are all such narcissists and they can't even be human enough to feel for each other in a shared experience of losing their fathers, or be understanding about a very recent loss or a really tragic and traumatic event. It's just a reminder that these are not good, evolved, or impressive people. Matsson is good at making money, Kendall and Roman aren't even good at that. They just have no real redeeming qualities. I guess Matsson, like Logan, cares about building something that has value. But otherwise these are just very stunted, sad people. And the others aren't much better. Maybe a little more human. Not much. Truly no one to root for here. I kind of just hope they all get indicted or lose all their money on crypto or a Ponzi scheme or something. It would be the only satisfying ending. |
I thought the whole story about Ebba and the blood was BS, just something Mattson made up to test Shiv. |
