Why is it that the higher up you go in the social ladder, the more enforced gender norms are?

Women in the UMC and UC tend to be more feminine, fashionable and stay home/focus on being super moms, decorating, cooking and throwing dinner parties.

Meanwhile women in the M/LMC/LC are more masculine in how they spend their time. Working fulltime jobs either in the professional capacity or in blue color trades. These are the women who are earning a living, focus less on traditionally feminine interests and work hard to provide for their family?

Men in the UMC and UC are more traditional in their mindest and work hard to provide for their families. In the lower social classes men are either unable to provide or do not want to be the sole financial breadwinner.

Why?

I don’t see that in any of my circles. Sure there are ppl who have hobbies that align w what you’re saying (hosting, decorating) but I live in CCDC and the spread around here w folks who stay at home, work, consult, host, parent, is honestly couple by couple.

What data do you have to support these silly notions, OP?

This. Why work if you don’t have to? And if you’re not working then you’re probably keeping house or supervising the household as doing charity and volunteering which are mostly female dominated anyway. For many men work defines who they are and their status so they keep working. And at UMC someone still has to work to bring in the cash since they’re not independently wealthy to live off investments yet.

Actually some anthropologists have written about this. Wealthier men prefer more feminine women. Men who struggle prefer women who can take care of themselves.

OP, you don't know a fig about which you speak. You see what you want to see.

There are plenty of middle class SAHM's, plenty of UMC women who work, and plenty of lower/middle class men who work in the trades or provide for their families. You're failing to make a point.

What about women who are doctors and scientists? They have to dress for their profession, OP.

Point is, you can't generalize too much, you'll end up being wrong.
