Will a Roseanne reboot centered on Sara Gilbert and her kids succeed?

That's what they are pitching. Will it work?

John Goodman says he's interested.

My two cents: Gilbert isn't a talented actress, nor is her character particularly interesting.

I think Gilbert is talented but the dynamic between Roseanne and Jackie was one of the best aspects of the show. It's unfortunate Roseanne went crazy again and ruined the future status of the show. I actually enjoyed this reboot more than Will & Grace and thought it had a lot of potential as it moved into the second season. I remember growing up watching it and being fascinated by how different the family was than my own family.

Hah, for many of us it reminded us of our family.

No, I thought the Mark character was too forced and I didn’t think the girl from Shameless was particularly interesting wither. And you are right that Gilbert isn’t a particularly strong actress.

I think Gilbert is one of the stronger ones on that cast.

Roseanne herself was awkward/forced and it made me sad to see how bad her acting is now when I really enjoyed her on the first run of the show. And the actress that plays Becky is really terrible.

I hope they can make a spinoff work.

+1. Dan and jackie were way better actors. Let’s see how it goes.

Just kill off Roseanne and the show can continue.

I think John and Lori are the best actors on that show. BUT the relationship between Jackie and Roseanne and Dan and Roseanne are vital to the show. I don't see a show working without those relationships. The original had some amazing sister/sister and husband/wife moments and relationship building.

No, she is such a grouchy character and impossible to like. ABC has done a mistake by cancelling The Last Man Standing too, due to Tim Allen being a republican, they can claim whatever, but we know that is true. ABC is desperate for a good sitcom and they keep making decisions based on politics and perception. This scandal would actually make the show even more watched and controversial. I am not supporting her or her idiotic racist rants, but show business is a scandal business, they ought to use that. It won't be their first racist actor or the last.

So she should be rewarded with money and a spotlight?

I think so. Talent is talent and it's time to relegate opinions of celebrities to the dustbin where they belong.

I think Roseanne is mentally ill and hard to work with outside of her views. I think something would have prevented the show from going much further regardless.

Don't rely on the Daily Mail. It's such a rag that Wikipedia won't accept it as a cited source when people create Wkipedia articles. I'm amazed how it has gotten a lot of Americans turning to it as "news" when in Britain (where it's based) it's considered just a gossip sheet.
