Which private school - STA, NCS, Sidwell, Holton etc. has the most famous/prominent grads?

We've talked a lot of other issues here -- but I'm wondering which of the private schools has the most famous/prominent grads? My son thinks he's going to make it big in Hollywood...but I don't think that's likely seeing that we're not in NY or LA and I don't think he knows how much talent is really required to make it.

If you go to each school's website -- you can usually find a link somewhere to highlight famous/prominent grads. Too, Wikipedia searches on a given school will often include lists of famous/prominent grads. I know STA, NCS and Holton have several famous/prominent people listed. Most of those aren't "Hollywood types" though. Holton does have Julie Louis Dreyfus (Seinfeld) and at least a few other lesser known actresses. I can't speak for the other schools.

That's a fun question. Good luck to your son. He might have better luck going to the Duke Ellington School (public DCPS) in G'town which is specifically operating for people with "drama dreams" .

The Admissions people are usually happy to talk about some of their well-known grads too. You have to ask the question delicately so as not to appear too desperate.

OP, does your son think that going to a high school with a lot of famous grads will somehow give him a leg up in showbiz? If so, he's fooling himself. Maybe if he went to Juillard, but not here.

Check out Duke Ellington School of the Arts.

My cousin went to film school and got a masters in film but what helped him was to land a job with Dick Clark. Sometimes, it's the job and not the education that works.

OP sounds like the same person who has posted numerous times asking for comparisons of NCS and Holton on everything from homework to college matriculation to sports teams. Please, OP, don't make the number of famous grads part of your criteria. That's no way to decide on a school for your kid...

Agree with PP. I'm really tired of the NCS vs. Holton posts on every conceiveable topic. Do some independent research and (gasp) form your own opinions.

I think the Duke Ellington School is a great idea too!

I've talked to kids at Duke Ellington and they love it. I know some kids relocate to DC just to go there.

Someone on this post must not know that Holton is for girls only.

Go for Duke Ellington or have your son move to NYC for boarding school if you can afford it

Why are you reading these posts then? Go somewhere else.

I agree with above. Why are people reading these answers if they resent private schools to begin with? There are plenty of other places on DCUM for you...save your meanness for those posts -- not here!
