Which private school - STA, NCS, Sidwell, Holton etc. has the most famous/prominent grads?

You must live in DC or MD, pp. Best that you do the research or give positive proof before sounding uninformed. Might want to start with SSSA, Potomac, Flint Hill, Nysmith (the only school in the DC area for the truly gifted students), Episcopal, Foxcroft, Congressional and oh yeah, Madeira.

TJ is public but requires an admissions process that makes any private school process look like a piece of cake.

John Kerry may have spent a few years at STA, but he did not graduate from there.

I've already said 1:26 that TJ is the highest ranked ps in the USA. The privates you mentioned aren't rated anywhere near the privates in MD or DC...check out WSJ and Worth Magazine. Sorry ...they don't have the same elan either.

No, you're not sorry. You're just snotty.

You are pretty uninformed.

For one thing, Potomac School is considered one of the top private schools in the nation and is very well respected by college admissions folks. It ranks as the #22 best school in the country by your Worth Magazine criteria (ahead of #28 Sidwell, #43 GDS, #61 Maret, & #71 TJ... STA is #13 and NCS is #17). Now, I don't think one magazine ranking is the end all be all of which of these schools is better than the other (they're all stellar)... but you brought it up.

Likewise, SSSAS, Maderia, Langley (K-8) and other VA schools are top notch as well.

Here's another "ranking" article - this one from last year. List both Potomac and Maderia in the "top tier" of DC area schools. That PP does not know what she's talking about.

I don't think "good" is the correct word to use on this topic. The right school is all about how it fits the student. My child did wonderfully at a relatively unknown Virginia independent school with a wonderful program of studies (Shakespeare, Algebra, French & Latin all before graduating 8th grade). So, perhaps many of the Virginia schools are not as prestigious or has highly rated as the schools which are the subject here, yet they are good schools for the right student.

That said, you might want to double check your sources, Episcopal and Madeira are both rated quite highly.

PP -- Episcopal and Madeira are for the wealthy...that doesn't mean they're good...just expensive

None are in the league of Phillips Exeter, Andover, St Paul or Groton.

True to form, this has returned to prestige in the eyes of the myopic over the quest for invigorating learning in a scintillating environment. ALL of the schools vary class to class, and teacher to teacher. You can find excellence and mediocrity in each school. Those fixed on specific college admissions numbers are parents who can calculate, but not think. Have fun!

Wasn't this OP's goal? To stir up the hatreds that exist on this board? So that that extent, OP has been really successful in this thread.

I put a lot more stock in the reporting of an established media outlet than I do of some random anonymous poster in a forum. I think you're just looking to pick a fight, unfortunately the data has show you to be wrong.

hey above, the wash. examiner is not an "established media outlet" as you seem to presume it to be
