Jealous of men who fawn over their SOs on social media

Anonymous
I always see sweet social media posts from men where they praise their wives and girlfriends. I find those so sweet. Sadly my DH would never be that thoughtful!

Usually those dudes are on the way to a divorce.

It’s a ruse.

I assume they got caught cheating. I don’t believe a word of it.

You know that's not real, right op? People who are secure in their relationships don't need to announce it for social validation.

I find public emoting vomit-inducing. In my mind, love and respect are something very private, and talking about it just devalues it.

But I was raised in "stiff upper lip" circles. I have friends who become effusive during dinner toasts and Thanksgiving meals, etc. Makes me cringe every time.

So before social media, all men were inconsiderate jackasses unless they rented billboards, hired sky writers or hung banners on highway overpasses to express their undying love for their spouse. Is that what you’re saying OP? Only outward public pronouncements of love mean that a husband truly loves his wife.
Read it out loud. See how ridiculous that sounds.

+1 My DH tells me how he feels. I don't need it publicized.

Usually = doth protest too much.

I agree. Something very sweet about a man being that open about his love for his partner. However my SO isn’t very verbally affectionate and my Love Language is Words of Affection so it’s a sore spot for us lol.

I never do this. It's immature and pathetic.

My DW has no doubt how much I adore her in multiple ways, and neither do our friends and family.

Agreed. Not always, of course. But my brother is like this with his wife, and they fight and break up constantly. Domestic violence, too.

+2. If you're living in the same house, sleeping next to one another, why not roll over and express your appreciation in real time? Seems odd to go online to say so.

You are jealous of these men? That doesn’t make sense. Jealous of their partners, sure.

+1. I think it’s weird to see spouses communicating by fAcebook etc. but I’m 40 so maybe I’m too old to understand
