My Pleasant Suburb Is Going a Little Bit Crazy
https://www.washingtonian.com/2018/05/06/my-pleasant-suburb-is-going-a-little-bit-crazy-alexandria-virginia-allison-silberberg/ Interesting article about Alexandria's mayor. The primary on June 12. I was thrilled when Silberberg defeated Euille but Justin Wilson would be a great mayor. Alexandrites, what do you think? |
| You are not a true Alexandrian if you did not attend or graduate from TC Williams. |
You can go to hell. I am a native Alexandrian. Went to Catholic schools (St. Rita and St. Mary’s Academy). Moved back to Alexandria after college and have lived here since. |
Spoken like a true Catholic.

Cool so I can stop paying taxes to Alexandria then, right? |
| Well as a resident of West Alexandria, I can rest assured that neither gives a single polished turd about my neighborhood so none of it matters. They’ll just stay focused on Old Town and Del Ray. |
That is not true about Justin. |

Very interesting article. I'm an Alexandria resident (who pays A LOT of taxes) and I am very interested in the upcoming local election - probably for the first time in my entire life.
I'm voting for Mayor, City Council and School Board members who are younger, more diverse and have reasons for making the city better (i.e. skin in the game) - like young children, small businesses, etc. And people who have enough courage to ask tough questions and get things DONE. I think Justin Wilson will do a great job. |
| It was funny that the article made the public schools sound coveted when ACPS sucks. |
OP here. This was my thought as well. |
Me, too. |

| I too was thrilled when Silverberg was elected over Euille, simply because we needed a change. While she can be daft, I think she and Justin need one another as to benefit Alexandria. Justin comes across in meetings as irritated and boorish if those don't agree with his line of thinking. Neither are true leaders, but they need one another to fully benefit Alexandria. |

I was happy to see Euille go, but I've not liked Alison Silberburg. I'll be voting Wilson in the primary.
And not voting for Del Pepper. She needs to retire stat. And I just about died laughing just now when I looked at the candidate list to see if she was running and realized she uses an aol email, because of course she does. |

I hope I don't have to vote for either of them. He has the vision of an ant in a tunnel, and she is completely daft and is entirely too dependent on that sycophant who hangs around her.
This city is definitely going in the wrong direction if these two are the best we can get to run. Our family priorities are solutions to the horrible traffic problems. I would like to be able to get from one side of the city to another in 20 minutes or less. That is completely impossible these days. |
