Yep. He'll drive out the wealthy which pay 50% of NYC's taxes. Jobs will disappear. He will freeze rents and owners will sell the properties, and then there will be housing shortages because it will take forever to get funding as the tax base leaves, like happened in Flint, MI. Lower invome workers won't be able to find housing, so they'll leave. Brilliant. |
You forget that key parts of Obamacare were not allowed to be implemented. The same way we can’t get folks to move to universal healthcare or a model much much closer. Which most Democrats would freely agree to do. We can’t have nice things because we won’t embrace community and instead have too many people that worship at the alter of greed and riches. |
| You’d think that they’d be able to run on a platform of not being Nazis, child rapists, or conmen, but apparently a lot of voters are into that kind of stuff. |
Care you share your analysis? Hahahaha. Lmao. Losers making stuff up again. |
The issue is folks want the Democrats to stand for a bunch of things and be the adults in the room but the Republicans are not held to the same standard. So you have Independents actually looking alto see who has the best policies, people who don’t vote, and then Dems expecting more and potentially not voting or voting third party. Meanwhile the Republicans are just repeating the same lies over and over and pointing fingers and fearmongering. Dems are trying to hold the line on a rigged game and white frankly need to flip the table over and start aiming at people. Everyone’s so worried about what happens to democracy when that occurs, when the reality is democracy is dying because this isn’t taking place. It’s long past time for radical action and change and new norms to be formed. |
NYC can stand to have fewer wealthy people. |
This. All of the other stuff can be in the platform but sadly those aren’t really going to motivate voters. |
Cause and effect. |
We have too much demand and too little supply. Democrats don't have a serious plan for addressing either side of the equation. (No, Republicans also won't fix either, but this thread is about Dems.) |
| I want endless investigations into Trump and any of his cronies involvement with Epstein, no matter how tenuous. |
How about just standing for DECENCY and HONESTY. |
| Lately in left parts of the internet, I've noticed people talking about legalizing prostitution, expanding government housing projects, having state-run grocery stores, polyamory, and wanting the rich to be taxed more heavily. So I tend to think this will be campaign issues. |

What will the Republicans stand for in 2026?
This is what I see as the GOP Platform in 2026: Erosion of Democracy and Authoritarian Drift Undermining elections, empowering autocrats, and dismantling democratic norms — the GOP has embraced power over principle. Weaponizing Government Against Political Opponents From threats to prosecute rivals to purging civil servants, Republicans are turning the state into a partisan weapon. Attacks on Reproductive Rights The party has led the rollback of abortion access and bodily autonomy, even in cases of rape or medical emergency. Promotion of Conspiracy Theories and Misinformation From QAnon to COVID to election denial, the GOP has become a breeding ground for dangerous falsehoods. Undermining Press Freedom Labeling journalists as “enemies of the people” and spreading disinformation to discredit factual reporting. Climate Denial and Environmental Rollbacks Blocking clean energy, gutting environmental protections from known carcinogens and harmful pollution, and denying science while the planet burns. Suppression of Voting Rights Gerrymandering, voter ID laws, and purges designed to silence opposition and rig outcomes. Fiscal Hypocrisy and Exploding Deficits Trillions added to the debt while claiming to be fiscally responsible — all to fund tax cuts for the rich. Corporate Welfare and Tax Breaks for Billionaires Massive giveaways to the ultra-wealthy while working families get crumbs and broken promises. Encouraging Political Violence and Failing to Condemn It From January 6 to threats against officials, silence or complicity has become the norm. Cuts to Social Safety Nets Slashing Medicaid, food aid, and disability support while claiming to defend “real Americans.” Denial, Attack and Disregard for Scientific Expertise and Public Health COVID denial, anti-vaccine rhetoric, and rejection of basic science have endangered lives. Undermining Public Education and Promoting Censorship Book bans, attacks on teachers, and politicized curricula threaten intellectual freedom. Cult-Like Loyalty to Individual Leaders Loyalty to Trump overrides law, ethics, and even longstanding conservative principles. Sexual Misconduct and Exploitation Repeated scandals involving underage women and failure to hold perpetrators accountable. Isolationist Foreign Policy Abandoning and maligning allies and cozying up to dictators weakens America’s global standing. Masked Goon Squads Using anonymous force against civilians during protests — a chilling abuse of power. Destroying Consumer Safety and Financial Protections Deregulation has left Americans vulnerable to scams, unsafe products, and corporate abuse. Inflation Without Relief Policies that worsen inflation while blocking efforts to ease the burden on working families. I'm not wrong on any of these... |
I will take all of these over losing my job because of Democrats immigration policies Hierarchy of needs I need to work to support my family. |
