Here's what I see: Either there is widespread ongoing cheating at LT, or they're somehow gaming the DC-CAS scoring system with their alternatively evaluated SpEd population, or they're the real deal and DCPS ought to be pouring resources into figuring out how to replicate the fabulous things going on there.
Without a very thorough, transparent investigation, we're left to guess. |
But it happened with impunity ( rewards, in fact ) the first time so why not continue? It stinks. Just ask the teachers at the receiving middle schools if the LT students appear on grade level to them. |

It's in here about how LT was flagged for high erasure rates and scores dropped upon higher security the following year. Just google Ludlow Taylor and erasure for lots more links

| New Poster - Don't have kids in this school. Ran into someone that just graduated this year that had moved to DC to this school from Fairfax County Public Schools. They were exteremely pleased; indicated that it was much better educationally than their Fairfax Public School. |
| ^^ Their DC graduated from LT this year. As I indicated they were very pleased in comparison to their Fairfax Public School. They were shocked as they had moved to Fairfax originally for the schools. |
|
^Right, right. As good as Fairfax. So you're arguing that LT simply has a crushing PR problem? This alone explains why an estimated 90% of IB gentrifiers with little kids (at least 2/3 of resident families) shun the school past PreK4?

| We used to live on 8th and G NE until a few years ago when we moved to Chevy Chase. I saw the thread. Are there really so few neighborhood kids going to LT? I was just curious. It seemed like many of our neighbors with young kids were not white. There is a huge old age home taking up one whole block. |
| The building looks AMAZING...teachers and students are excited. It is going to be a GREAT year! Watch out haters...LT is HOT! |
| After completely rocking that CAS Ludlow children more than deserve a beautiful school. It is a blessing that this work got to be done for those hard working children, teachers, and staff. Awesome work all around. |
| The windows alone look so much better. As a neighbor without kids in the school I'm rooting for it. New building, new year! Congrats! |

It would be great to hear what new parents think.
We are IB and I am unsure if I should rank LT or JO Wilson higher in the lottery this year. |
| I personally think LT is superior to JO, but I don't know much about either school. LT is our IB school and we went there for a while last year before switching. Our experience was good although had its rough spots. Personally, I did not put JO on our list at all b/c I figured if nothing else we would get into Ludlow. |
Did you go to another school on this Hill? Charter? Private? |
I'm not arguing anything; just sharing what I was told by this parent. She actually was speaking about Stuart-Hobson not LT. Now you can shoot the messenger twice who was just trying to be helpful. 90% of IB gentriers - interesting comment. I guess the rest of the people don't care about their children's education. |
Another Hill DCPS. |
