This is the dumbest post ever. Judging what a good friend someone is by discussing their relationship with someone they were put on reality show with. She couldn't make it work with Heather, oh no!

I'm not saying Bethenny should (or even can) be good friends with every single cast member. But the fact that she is at the core of every catastrophic meltdown, every season that she's on...yeah, maybe the [problem IS] ratings are because of her. She doesn't have to be besties with all of them, but the fact that she can't even maintain a surface-level, social acquaintance with so many people is just odd. It really is.

And as for the list above. Most of the people B and they just didn't like each other. You can't say they were broken or fraught or complex friendships because they were never friends to begin with. I bet I could list just as many people that you've met/worked with/been at the same party with that you don't like or don't like you. The difference is that she's paid to be entertaining on a "reality" show. She's paid (just like the others are, by the way) to create DRAMA. So, where you and I would just not even engage in people we don't like (or who don't like us) and walk away, these people are paid to confront and fight. Might as well choose the people you don't like.

Obviously the Carole and Jill situation is different, but your list is just wrong.

I agree with you. This Carole-hate mystifies me. So often, Carole is the only adult in the room - calm, rational, and mature. She is incredibly observant and a gifted writer. Her friendship with Heather was the type of friend relationship I strive for.

I don't watch most of the RHO shows. I've always watched this one because the women had interesting lives/jobs and there were friendships. I hate when they have trashy fights but I know Bravo loves it for the bump in ratings. I wish Bethenny would be honest to her therapist so she can deal with her abandonment issues. I enjoy the shows more when we see the inevitable contention that is handled by adults who care about one another. That is gone to hell now.

I sort of agree with you, but one of the reasons I like RHONY so much (stopped watching the other franchises years ago) is that they have known each other for years now and their friendships ebb and flow. Even Dorinda, who joined later, already knew a few of them for years.

I disagree with a PP above who wants a younger housewife with young kids. I'd prefer to have someone who runs in the same circles as these women or who they know rather than a random one-off like Tinsley, Jules, Kelly, Kristen, etc. Although they may have to bring someone younger on for Tinsley to hang out with otherwise she'll have no storyline.

I haven't psted at all and I'm totally team Bethenny. Yes, her brand is very important to her - but she's also a person, and her brand isn't hinged on being liked by everyone. I think it's very conspiracy theorist to assume she has people posting in this thread on her behalf. Like she gives an eff? Good or bad publicity is publicity and she's one person who is as quick to laugh at herself as anyone else.

I posted once or twice many pages ago, but I'm team Bethenny in this feud too. Bethenny's personality can be aggressive and annoying, but she's more of a fully-realized person to me than Carole. Carole just kind of gloms on to one person each year, and she doesn't seem to have much of a personality other than that. Bethenny going to Puerto Rico and handing out money and talking to people who are living through a nightmare is just more interesting, as a person and for TV, than Carole hemming and hawing about whether she cares if Adam has a new girlfriend and completing a marathon. So I was already kind of team Bethenny before this thread, which led me to Carole's blogs. After that: game over. Calling Carole mature and levelheaded and so forth after those blogs is confusing to me. Bethenny is definitely high strung and probably wouldn't be great to know IRL (good TV, though), but at least she's not pretending to want to salvage a friendship on TV while going nuclear online.

+1 Bethenny used her because she had no true friends on the show. very telling that she now professes to be good friends with Sonja when not to long ago she said Sonja was dead to her. Got to wonder how crazy and nasty she has been to her former husband. Not saying what he did stalking her was right but I think she has to drive someone pretty far with her nasty behavior. There are always two sides to every story.
