These are people who weren’t Trump supporters before. I didn’t see these signs in 2020 or 2016. These are new. So yes, I think they matter.

I’ve noticed the opposite when driving home to West Virginia. The cultiest people still have their huge signs, no one else cares anymore. The energy for Trump seems down in the place that loves him the most.

And my point stands- by the time someone puts up a sign, they know who they want to vote for. Those are not persuadable voters. The Democrats need to focus on turnout, as always. Trump has never won an actual majority.

Yes, of course I keep track of signs. It was part of the reason I was telling people Trump was going to win in summer 2016 — I saw the enthusiasm. And I am seeing a disturbing increase in overt Trump support in place where I haven’t seen that before.

My concern is not the people who are dyed-in-the-wool Republicans in deep red states. They don’t need to be enthusiastic for Trump; they’ll never vote blue. My concern is the newly enthusiastic swing voters, the people who voted Biden in 2020. And I am worried there is a growing number of that group.
