When they block your chances of being able a to play their top team there’s know way of knowing if they compete with them or not is there? I say they can, come take a look for yourself. They just beat 2 top ECNL teams this weekend one from New Jersey and one from Pittsburgh.

You mean they beat an ECNL-RL team their own age and beat a Pre ECNL team that is a year younger, right?

They said NJ and PA, so i think they're talking about Century (USYS) and Neshanic (EDP). Century was a semifinalist of the 13th (of 14) backet of Jeff Cup.

Fine, you both win. Take your superior thank thou attitudes and take your wonderful victory lap of joy in youth soccer and enjoy running down a U15 boys team that you think is not as successful as any ECNL or MSL Next team out there. I still say they can hold their own with those teams if given a chance. Come watch them some time. But you just keep running them down and throwing up how much lower you think they are. Waving my white flag today at your superior better than thou attitudes that the rest of Northern Virginia soccer has toward VRSC. It's been fun but as always you push and push and push and no matter how good our kids are at VRSC you will never be willing to see it because no one is going to be as good as Loudoun Soccer in your eyes or any ECNL or MSL Next team because "patches" and "titles" matter more to you than skill and talent.

I'm not the one on here claiming "They just beat 2 top ECNL teams this weekend one from New Jersey and one from Pittsburgh." when they didn't! It's not about running down a U15 boys team, it's about calling out a blatant lie, why did you lie when all the schedules are online? What did you have to gain from lying about who they beat?

I didn't intend to lie I went by what was told to me at the tournament. Sorry I didn't follow up with research on the internet. My mistake. I wasn't trying to gain anything at all. I will admit a mistake. I also will not try to run anyones club or team down at all. I think all of the kids playing soccer in this area are all talented and all deserve to be given credit for their hard work. Again, I was only going by information given to me at the tournament, I was not trying to pass along wrong information. I am sorry I am not as vigiant as you at this soccer parenting game. Wow!! I'll go back to my regular life now.

I never ran down or said anything bad about any of the players or team, i never disparaged them, everyone got super defensive when i simply stated "Loudoun Red is LS's #3 team, that shouldn't be considered an accomplishment" and then followed it up with "Winning championships and beating Loudoun is fun but come on, if it's against another club's 3rd team with your 1st team is that really an accomplishment?"

I think people are mistaking expectations vs accomplishments. If my DC is on the 1st team, i would expect them to beat other club's (regardless of club) #3 team - if they're not, then i would need to reassess our situation and goals. An accomplishment is something greater than or beyond the expectation. Maybe my expectations are too high

The VRSC thread seems to follow a familiar pattern. X VRSC team is actually really good. Who have they played? You guys are mean for pointing that out.

I think in reality you have three groups here.

Group 1: those who don't care for VRSC and are here to sound off against them in any way they can. Run Niko down, run the club down, bash the facility, bash the money coming into the facility, bash the coaching staff, run down the level of ability that is at the club etc.

Group 2: Parents who have found a place at the club and like all that the club has to offer. They are here to support the club and their children who play their coaches.

Group 3: Parents who are looking for a club for their children and looking at VRSC as a possibility for their child.

The first 2 groups will sound off the most here in support of their stance. This at times will get a little heated.

For those that are here to speak out against VRSC I have found that yes, you at times can come off as running down the players and their ability. You claim you don't but you in reality do. You say you are supporting the ability or higher level of coaching at your club but in reality you are saying the skill level and ability of the players at VRSC are not as good as the players at your club.

So, if this is what you think and feel then why even bother coming here and posting on a board for VRSC?

You're missing a group:

Group 4: People that want to cause chaos for the sake of causing chaos because parents get so fired up about the littlest things

I guess we're Group 5: Parents of former players of VRSC who left after 1 year and couldn't get out fast enough.

If Loudoun rejects go to VRSC, why did Loudoun threaten to bench players for going to VRSC tryouts? Loudoun knows VRSC has a better program and sunk to new lows to prevent players from moving club this year. I guess Loudoun wants to hang on to those rejects.

What I observed for my son's team. Players from his rec team got rejected and went to VA Revolution. The Loudoun team then played them and tied. I think Revolution finished overall higher in the standings.
The rec team with this handful of travel players was surprisingly pretty weak compared to teams with no travel players.

If VRSC get the MLSN slot - then you might see an exodus of top players from Loudoun (and other clubs). However right now there is zero exodus of players from the top 2-3 teams in Loudoun and the only boys age group where VRSC is remotely competitive with their top team is/was 2014.

Sadly VRSC have been moving their top teams out of the higher NCSL divisions and dropping them to level 3&4. Same as tournaments where VRSC has been moving themselves down in tournament pools simply so they can post better records and claim “championships.” That’s Nico’s path to relevancy apparently - either buy it or lower the level of competition.

Meanwhile Loudoun is pushing their kids up (eg 2014s playing 9v9 vs 2013s this spring) where they aren’t worrying about scores but focusing on development and pushing their players to grow (although they’ve done quite well playing up in 2nd NCSL division).

Wow, glad to know you know all of the teams so well at VRSC. Also, you might want to get the spelling of Niko's name correct.

My son plays on the top team (black team) in his age group he played EDP in the fall this year NCSL in the spring. The past 2 years he played EDP both fall and spring. EDP didn't have a spring schedule of games this year. Their team was not dropped down to lower divisions in tournaments. They just played the Potomac Tournament (the tournament placed them not our club) they won their championship for their division. He is not on the 2014 team by the way! His team has never been dropped down a division in a tournament just to get a "win". They are competitive and are improving each year, their team did win against the Loudoun team in their league play this year. Just saying VRSC is out there being a little more competitive than all of you haters out there would like them to be!

Thats great for VRSC, congrats on the wins! As an outsider, I'm curious which Loudoun team did they beat?
We have offers to both - still open FWIW - but at my son's age group it appears VRSCs "Black" team played LS "City" team - which by my research is the #3 team. I am most focused on development, but I'm hesitant to put my son on a top team who's playing against #3 teams from other clubs as I don't think that will make them better.

That goes in both directions. Loudoun's lower teams are playing top or second teams at other clubs. Very challenging, especially in the levels where the teams are basically money grabs.

No I would say you fit in Group 1 and why would you still be in this blog. If you didn't like it and left why stay here other than to keep people away? Leave this for those who want to be supportive of the club and give helpful information.

you are forgetting what is likely the largest group: club staff and coaches. this is a guess but i wouldn't be surprised if 50 percent of the posts on the form come from people directly employed by clubs. i know for a fact that the larger clubs have a strategy to use this forum to spread information about their club, or mis-information about others.
