| Just like in many sports, a regular-season champion is crowned--BUT it is clearly evident to most people that the tournament champion is the true champion. The regular season is for seeding and home-field advantage. How teams are playing in May is of utmost importance. |
Neutral Observer Top 10, Week of April 10th: 1. Georgetown Prep (8-2): Hoyas have won 7 out of their last 8 games, and crosstown rival, Landon is on deck for this Friday. 2. SJC (7-2): Monster game this week with Long Island & National powerhouse, Saint Anthony's. 3. Gonzaga (7-4): Eagles took care of business out in San Fran against perennial West Coast powers Saint Ignatius and Sacred Heart Prep. 4. Bullis (9-3): Bulldogs stumbled last week against their rival Landon. Look for Bullis to bounce back against NC powerhouse, Cardinal Gibbons and STA. 5. Landon (5-4): The young Bears had a big win over Bullis. Tough week on deck for the Bears with Cardinal Gibbons (NC) and arch-nemesis Georgetown Prep on Friday. 6. DeMatha (6-5): Huge win last week over PVI. The Stags seemed much improved since their early season woes. An interesting midweek matchup against 4-A public school power, Broadneck 7. PVI (6-4): Panthers slipped up last week against DeMatha. Look for PVI to get back to the winning way this week against Collegiate and STAB. 8. Episcopal (9-1): The Maroon have been flying under the radar all season. After dominating STA last week, the IAC coaches better take notice. 9. St Albans (8-4): The Bulldogs have lost 2 straight after a promising start to the season. Things don't get any easier this week with Gonzaga and Bullis on tap. 10. Jame Madison (5-1): The defending VA public school state champs took down state contender Lake Braddock last week. HM: Saint Stephens The Heights |
I’d flip Prep and St. John’s. St. John’s hasn’t been beaten by a local team in 2 and half seasons. |
| agree ^^^ |
| Here we go again... HM: The Heights. As much as you hate STA... they are better than the Heights. |
They had STA ranked ahead of The Heights. Also I would add that Yorktown HS is better than Madison HS. They had Madison ranked and The Heights beat Yorktown ergo Heights should be higher than the HM ranking and should be #10 |
| Potomac beat the Heights. They should be HM! |
| How about we don’t include HM. After top 5, it’s a wash anyways |
| HM. Lol |
I'd argue after the top 7 there is a pretty big drop-off. I still think Prep is the best team in the area this year with loaded senior class. |
Too hard to rank Heights at this point. Some of there games vs top 5 are way closer than they should be (GZ/Landon), but loses to teams like Potomac are brutal. We’ll see how they pair up against St Stephen’s next week. Think those two compete for 9&10 spots respectively. Albans and Yorktown are the HM for the area. |

Makes more sense to rank in Tiers:
Tier One: SJC and GTP (SJC still claims scoreboard until beaten.) Tier Two: Gonzaga, PVI, Bullis, Landon, Dematha take your pick and any given night any can beat anyone else. Tier Three: St. Albans, Episcopal: Some really good players but not enough still a notch below T2 Tier Four: Heights, Potomac, SSSAS, SJ, and whatever public school is on top. There has not been a close public v private matchup this season as there were in years past. |
This post is very accurate. I'd add that Saint Stephens is historically a stronger program than STA, Episcopal, DeMatha and PVI. With that being said, the Saints are in a complete re-build year this Spring. Their varsity team is primarily freshmen and sophomores. They will be back to their usual selves in 2 seasons. STA will drop big time after this Spring. |

St. John’s. Cheaters in every sport.
Relocated a kid from Hawaii and Connecticut for football. Lacrosse is doing to the same thing. Kids from outside of the area come in for a year or a semester and leave. Only a matter of time before all their freshman find out how the program is run and transfer. |
You wish. |
