Can’t stand IL’s rhyming twin names

Anonymous
Vent only. My SIL gave her twins stupid rhyming names and I can’t bring myself to even say them. It’s like, really?? The names are exactly the same with the first letter switched. Names are something like: Corrie and Dorrie. Cora and Nora. Jennie and Pennie.

Just getting it off my chest.

Hmm. Perhaps if you had real problems this wouldn't even be on your radar.

I see what you did there

I went to high school with a woman who named her not-twin sons Devon and Davon. Like, these kids are 4 years apart and essentially have the same name. People are nuts.

+1 You do you OP.

As a twin, I am vouching for OPs annoyance.

This twin mom needs to take a TWIN PARENTING class so that she realizes that we are completely separate people. This sounds like something a little girl with twin "dollies" would do, not a grown mom of twin daughters: Cindy and Mindy Smith...blechhhhhh!

That’s pretty sad. I went to school w Meghan and Reagan- twins. At the airport the other day I saw young sisters a couple years apart with their names airbrushed on their shirts: Caley and Caleigh.

Ugh, a made-up name spelled in two different made-up ways.

I knew twins who had rhyming names. One started with "J" and the other started with "Sh", so they sounded essentially the same when they were being called out loud. Think "Jamell & Shamell". They were in the same class and I bet that was tough for the teacher.

Also terrible is when the names start with the same first letters/sound, so that the natural nicknames might be the same. Kylie and Kyra. Loren and Lorelei.

My MIL has a twin brother and they're named rhyming names- first and middle. I'm a twin and my sister and I do NOT have rhyming names.

My twin great aunts are Sharon and Karen. In their late sixties now and OVER the twin thing. Not cute or funny much past preschool.

Tammy, Timmy, and Tommy!
