Who was the best team your travel soccer team played against

And what made them the best? A great player, teamwork, coaching philosophy, ball skills, across the board level, style of play?

Calverton Cerritos Soccer Academy. They just toyed with us.

Actually, I stand corrected. It was the other Calverton team, Calverton MD International.

Cerritos are a bunch of foul mouthed hacks. Never had players treat the other team or the officials so poorly as they have during every game.

Olney Rangers, 6 or so years ago. What made them so good was superstar players. One went to play for Arsenal and several are now playing in MLS. DS's team played them twice and I think the score was 10-0 or something like that. I think Gedion was already gone the second time they played them.

I know that team! They were a couple age groups above my oldest son and were legendary. I don't know any of them, but follow Jeremy Ebobisse (now playing for Portland in MLS) on twitter. He's a really thoughtful guy.

OP here: What made you think of that Calverton team as a great team? Different people have different criteria, so I’d like to know what you were seeing.

Also, does anyone know of a really good team to watch in this area now? I don’t much care what age, but I’d like to show my son how well kids can play at some point in the spring.

Maybe you can check DA schedule and maybe go watch some game between DCU and New York Red Bull or PDA.

Yes, DS also played high school soccer so played against Ebobisse and others in HS too. For those who complain about HS soccer I recall that Ebobisse was on JV for at least a year.

Some of the DA games can be very good. U14/U15 are good age groups to watch to get an idea of a club's style of play and up and coming talents.

This U14 team from the DMV area, for instance, is one of the best for their age group in the region, along with Loudon and DCU:

Or this U15 team, which is currently 3rd in Atlantic East, just behind the Red Bulls and Phil Union:

Op here: the previous post looks promising. My son is much younger than u14, so seeing how kids closer to his age would be cool too. But catching u14 or u15s who are clearly still kids would be great also.
