These are teams I have seen play locally in tournaments or showcases or in league play. I am suggesting the younger ages for younger kids to watch. When I give a club name, assume its the top team / color for that age. I am sure there are others I have not seen so apologies on that. Hope this helps parents find some good games for kids to watch. These are not listed in order of who I think is best. Just good teams.

2008 (U10) Boys - Alexandria, Bethesda, and Arlington
2007 (U11) Boys - Pipeline Black and DC United
2006 (U12) Boys - Bethesda, Pipeline and Potomac
2005 (U13) Boys - DC United DA, SOCA (Charlottesville), Annandale, and Arlington DA
2004 (U14) Boys - Loudoun DA, Bethesda DA, Arlington DA
2003 (U15) Boys - DC United DA, Bethesda DA, Baltimore Celtic, and BRYC ECNL

2008 (U10) Girls - Loudoun, Bethesda and Arlington
2007 (U11) Girls - MD United, McLean and Loudoun
2006 (U12) Girls - Arlington, Loudoun, MD Rush, Pipeline and BYRC
2005 (U13) Girls - Loudoun, Pipeline, Bethesda ECNL, McLean ECNL
2004 (U14) Girls - Arlington, FCV DA, McLean ECNL, VDA DA (moving to ECNL)
2003 (U15) Girls - BRYC ECNL, FCV DA, McLean ECNL, MD United ECNL

Please dont bash this list. There are plenty of opinions out there, and all are good. What I do know is if you go watch the teams above, you will see strong technical play, athletic kids, various types of styles, good coaching etc. Remember, every team has a style and not all players work well in all systems.

Thanks for this list - some good information which is rarely seen around here. Please post more often. I have seen a few of the teams listed above and agree with your assessment.

Thanks and I Will try to. it is hard to read the various threads though. So much hatred. Too much chest beating and club bashing. I worry how these mentalities spread to the kids in the family and on the sidelines. Its sad.

OP again. Great list, thank you! Now we'll just have to figure out how/when to watch some good soccer.

DS's team played them twice and I think the score was 10-0 or something like that. I think Gedion was already gone the second time they played them.

I know that team! They were a couple age groups above my oldest son and were legendary. I don't know any of them, but follow Jeremy Ebobisse (now playing for Portland in MLS) on twitter. He's a really thoughtful guy.

Yes, DS also played high school soccer so played against Ebobisse and others in HS too. For those who complain about HS soccer I recall that Ebobisse was on JV for at least a year.

Excited that Ebobisse is now on the USMNT !

Interesting read through everyone's assessment of the teams. A quick scan through NCSL, EDP, and CCL sites shows some shuffling of rankings around these age groups. I know W/L doesn't always equate to "best" team, but there has definitely been movement.

None of the "best" teams play in these leagues 06 and above.

Agree with you the previous posters list is dated.

For example the top 3 06 Girls teams are now, in alphabetical order, Arlington DA, FCV DA, and VDA ECNL. Only one of those three made their list.

2000 boys Celtic team. Has a ton of D1 recruits who really play well together.

The 08 Arlington girls red and white teams are both pretty good. Watching them both it seems the lower team has more technical girls but the top team has the size.
