| just doing a comparison here. thanks! |
| 2 15 minute recess blocks every day for all grades. |
| 20 minutes every day -- but if it is raining, or did rain, or might rain, or is cold, or windy, or breezy, then it's indoor recess |
| Arlington 1st grade. 20 minutes. It's pathetic. |
seriously +1 |
| 25 mins every day. My youngest had 15 mins of indoor recess yesterday because his class took too long to get ready to go outside. |
I swear when I was a kid growing up in Montgomery County (~40 years ago ) that recess was much longer. I remember playing soccer on the field until we got bored and moved to the basketball court - clearly was more than 15-20 minutes. But then again I only remember having recess once a day.

Our recess was 40 minutes when I was a child. Long enough to play a full game. |
| Moco public school . DD in K, she gets 40 mins for lunch then 35 for recess |
| 20 mins once a day; PE 3 times a week for 30 minutes. 1st grade FCPS |
How much PE in public school? Funny how many Moco people on here. |
| First grade. Fairfax. Technically a single 20 minute recess but realistically often less than 15. Lots of misbehaving and difficulty lining up. One per day. And my school also keeps them in for mud, threat of rain, cold. And indoor recess is in their classroom--not in a gym or other room so no real opportunity to burn off energy. IMO, it is way too short. The kids don't have time for a real game or to play different things. |

The More Recess bill is heading to the Governor's desk. But don't expect a big change.

| 30 minutes scheduled each day, FCPS. We seldom have indoor recess. We have stayed in two, maybe three times this year. I don’t think we have stayed in any more than that. |

I have three kids in elementary school, the oldest in fifth grade.
I have no idea how long their recess is. I guess I don't care, or at least I know that whatever it is, I'm not going to change it. |
