I guess you might consider this a cleavage-bearing sequin gown. Not slinky but still looks great. And I think Melanie, while I hate everything she represents, also looks great in the NYE slinky dress.

This is elegant and timeless. Not anything close to what Melanie was wearing on NYE.

The difference is that only one part of the look is revealing. Melania's dress shows a lot of cleavage and is close-fitted at the bottom so it gives off a very different vibe.

I don't think Melania's dress is that bad, but it does somehow look overall a size too small for her. Michelle's dress is in a different league. One is party, the other is ball.

Exactly. Michelle is elegant, Melania's is meant to be more tawdry/"look at me" party wear. Not even in the same league.

DP. I think the main difference is actually that Michelle worked very hard not to allow her clothing to ever detract from her husband's administration and was also under WAY more scrutiny as the first black First Lady and so many people looking for her to put a foot wrong.

Melania both gets and takes a lot more leeway, especially in this second administration. She has a very strong "no f***s left to give" energy that Michelle would NEVER have tried to get away with. The reason Michelle has really let loose with her fashion since they left office is because she worked so hard to tow the line while Barack was in office, despite being a woman who obviously enjoys having fun with fashion.

Melania can wear pretty much anything and even when it gets people talking, it doesn't negatively impact Trump because his administration is already insane. There is pretty much nothing she could do that would be more concerning than stuff that drivels out of her husband's mouth multiple times a day. No wonder she's showing up to New Year's in some boobtacular disco ball of a dress. Why not? What does she have to lose? Nothing. Michelle and Barack had a lot to lose and Michelle knew it and did her best not to create negative fallout.

Google Pp here. I thought she had a pear shape so I googled to see what the internet had to say after I saw your message….as I didn’t think she was an apple. Frankly, I’m still not sure as I still see an hourglass/pear shape. I also don’t see a gut or lack of defined waist. Most women her age have a little hormonal pooch from time to time. All in all, I regret the whole back and forth with you because…who cares…. Not me really. Apple, pear, hourglass, or any other body type Melania’s body looks amazing to me. She wears her clothes well.

Of course her waist is visible. Some of you are acting like there's either no waist at all (which would be rectangular, which Melania isn't) or a perfect hourglass waist. She has a waist but it's not as defined as a pear or hourglass. And she does carry her weight around the middle, regardless of what some of you think. I agree calling it a gut is harsh but she does have a visible pooch in some photos.

There is no way she's a pear. The definition of pear is that the thighs are bigger than the bust, significantly. Her bust is enormous so it's basically impossible for her to ever be a pear. She is an hourglass when she's lost weight, but is a natural apple, in that when she puts on weight it is on her stomach. If she ever just gave in and ate whatever, she'd be an apple, but I think she's really just a classic hourglass.
I'm a pear and there's no way I could wear the skinny little cropped pants that Melania wears, especially in the first administration when that's basically all she wore.
