Tuition Remission Summary

I've searched the posts here and tried to summarize what I've found about schools and the amount of tuition remission they offer to employees. Can people let me know if this is current/accurate? Please add any schools I've missed.

Green Acres – 50%

Holton – 50%
Landon – 50%
Lowell – 50%
Madeira – none
McDonogh – 80%
NCS – 50%
Norwood – 50%

Sidwell – none
SSSAS – 50%

That's correct. If you teach at at Albane your daughter gets 100 but if you teach at ncs your son gets 50. If you teach and Holton or Landon your kid gets 50 at the other school. Stone ridge 33 such a disappointing number. It should at least be 50.

Follow up question -- do all of these schools consider tuition remission to be "financial aid," meaning from the FA budget? I would think so, for tax purposes. But that also means that schools might not be as generous with FA as they might appear.

Related to your question: teachers at GDS can certainly apply for financial aid.

Are you applying for jobs or why do you care? I would want teachers kids going or I have to wonder about the quality of the school. Know one person working at a school and they are clear they would not send their kids there.

I don't think these are all current; the school sites are a lot vaguer in some cases so I would not bank on it 100%.

Good question. Likely there are not too many with a child at a given school. Perhaps there is no FA for them, just the reduced cost.

That’s why I’m asking ... I’m hoping people with personal experience or knowledge will help create and updated, accurate list.

Stone Ridge is ALL about the money these days. Since our DD’s started here it’s become very much a rich persons school.

For St. Albans, it is 100% if there is a faculty son attending STA. For STA faculty daughters, there's a scholarship fund towards the cost of tuition at NCS. The percentage of tuition covered depends on how many STA faculty daughters are attending NCS at a given time -- thus, it's not always 100% for faculty daughters.

I would actually guess not--it seems more likely to be treated as an employee fringe benefit (which may mean it's taxed). But it would be interesting to know from faculty at these schools.
