Yellen was quick to shoot down a question about grocery prices, which are up 20% from before the COVID-19 pandemic, during an interview with Yahoo Finance’s Jennifer Schonberger on Monday.

Yellen, who is worth an estimated $20 million, began to reply “No” before Schonberger even finished her question.

“I think largely it reflects cost increases, including labor cost increases that grocery firms have experienced, although there may be some increases in margins,” Yellen continued.

What is the GOP plan to reduce prices?

Biden is trying. The Dems are trying. The GOP have shot them down at every attempt.

So yes, things are more expensive because of the economic shock related to Trump's bungling of COVID.

So what does the GOP propose to make it better?

1. Inflationary effects may not be felt/observed immediately during the presidency in which the changes are made.

2. Inflation was worldwide and not specific to the US which negates the entire point that it's all Biden's fault. In fact, America's recovery has been better than most.

What exactly do you think tariffs do? They raise prices of imports. That’s the point. If there’s no domestic industry in place to supply the demand, the prices will skyrocket even further. And the thing about tariffs is they tend to be met with retaliation in kind, as America’s farmers learned during the Trump trade debacle some years back.

Restricting immigration increases the cost of labor, which also increases the costs of goods and services. Only so many Americans who want to work for next to nothing. Great if you’re an unskilled laborer, but bad if you want to buy anything dependent on the price of unskilled labor. Remember during the Trump years when the price of canned crab went through the roof? Expect that for pretty much every food item. If you think McDonalds costs a lot today wait until the price of beef and tomatoes is $20/lb.

We spend untold billions on healthcare and education for illegal aliens and their children. Deporting them would immediately decrease the annual deficit. The US is a wealthy country and can afford to pay unskilled labor more. What it cannot afford is to keep increasing the welfare rolls.

2. Inflation was worldwide and not specific to the US which negates the entire point that it's all Biden's fault. In fact, America's recovery has been better than most.

U.S. adults trust former President Donald Trump over President Joe Biden on the issue of inflation by a double-digit margin, according to a new ABC News/Ipsos poll this month, which found that price increases remain a top concern for voters, with less than six months to go until Election Day.

In all, 85% of poll participants said inflation is an important issue, making it the second-highest priority among adults surveyed. The top priority, the economy, also relates to individuals' perceptions of price increases.

On each of those issues, the economy and inflation, adults surveyed by ABC News/Ipsos said they trusted Trump over Biden by a margin of 14 percentage points.

Todd Fisher, 60, a retired automotive engineer who lives in Miami, Florida, said he's noticed rapid price increases for everything from haircuts to groceries.

"Everything keeps going up and up and up," Fisher, who lives on a pension, told ABC News. "I'm not broke or anything but I'd prefer it to be the other way. It's more money for the bank."

Trump is better equipped to address inflation, Fisher said, noting that the onset of elevated inflation in 2021 took place under Biden.

"It wasn't happening when Trump was president," said Fisher, who identifies as an independent. "I think he's more aware of what's going on."

LOL. So you think the owners of multinational companies want to send their cheap labor back south and hire Americans for more money?

I think I’ve heard everything now. You can’t seriously believe this, right? Right?

Also, if you want to keep welfare down, please stop shopping at Walmart. They underwork employees and use tons of welfare $$. You should even write them a letter to let them know the US can’t afford it.

No, I said untold billions because we don't know how much these illegals are consuming. States aren't verifying immigration status in most cases. Look what happened in Florida when that was changed.

If illegal aliens were great for the economy, you'd see it in the wealth of Americans. Unfortunately, Americans have gained zero real wealth under Biden.

Republicans crying about capitalism.

Cry me a river. They had $36B, yes billion, in sales for the quarter, this is planned over several years, and the CEO is racking in more than $20M.

Also, for funsies Walgreens also uses welfare to supplement low pay and underemployment for workers. In Washington state alone 367 workers were on public assistance.

Here's a list of corporate welfare in that state alone. And, that was 2018, so probably higher now, and certainly after laying off employees because why should CEO's make that much for their own failures?
