I believe I was blocked Tuesday morning after you deleted my post in Family Relationships. You also deleted some of my other posts. I waited 24 hours, and now nearly 48 hours, and I’m still blocked. I apologize for my inappropriate and immature behavior. I find this site very interesting and often helpful, and I’m asking you to please reconsider and reinstate me. Thank you.

You were engaging in very obvious trolling. I als believe that it was not the first time. Our users frequently put a lot of effort into answering what they believe to be legitimate posts. When those posts turn out to be fictional, they are less willing to offer help and legitimate requests may get ignored.

You obviously have found a way to post despite the block. It may be less convenient, but I think that is a small price to pay. So, for the time being I am not going to unblock your other address.

NP. Troll, are you the poster who posts as a MIL but is really a DIL?

I want to speak up and say that I am among the people who routinely try to help you, only later to realize that you have "fooled" me once again.

Why do you do this? Why can't you just post as yourself and ask for advice from your own perspective? What is it about pretending to be your MIL that is so appealing to you?

I don’t know if answering this is in my best interest at this juncture, but I suppose I owe an explanation.

The disparity in the answers you get from a DIL perspective versus the MIL perspective is interesting. If you post the same story from your own perspective (as the DIL), then you get one answer—usually in favor of the MIL. But if you post from the perspective of the MIL, you get a different answer, and it’s almost always in favor of the DIL. I’ve always taken away a lot of useful information from the answers from both perspectives and applied them.

Nothing I’ve ever posted wasn’t true, just the portrayal. But writing this now honestly makes me feel a little shameful. I apologize to everyone I’ve deceived and vow not to do it again.

DCUM often is against the poster, no matter who it is. DCUM often finds something to poke at in a post, then that just explodes into a chorus of naysayers against the person posting. Mob mentality? I don't know. My life is pretty dull so I don't tend to have anything controversial to post, but it's definitely something I've noticed.

Agreed. It gives fodder to the troll hunters, who are so annoying.

Part of the reason the advice is different is because we can only speak to the person posting. The only person you can control is yourself, so if a DIL posts, they'll get advice about changes they can make. There's no point in advocating changes for the mil to make - she's not the one looking for advice!
