Meaningless to persuade anyone to play up. League rule is in black and white. Club might have slight different interpretations when someone want to play up. Just check your own club or any club you can try out in your local area. My club just released the policy and it's very clear:
"Players are required to try out for their true age group based on the August 1-July 31 cut-off unless coaches have pre-approved the player to try out in an older age group" |
Again, glossing over the part where FC Copa said that they plan to group Aug birthdays by grade based on college coaches feedback. You just keep trying to run with the statement that college coaches dont care about age because graduating year (grade) is all that matters to them. |
Wont last, when clubs see quality players leaving for other clubs that let players play with their grade and terrible play downers seeking them out they will change their tune. |
Sorry "everyone gets a ribbon" mentality doesnt cut it for playing in college. |
| College recruiting is about building a positive relationship with the school/coaches. D1 powerhouses can find the talent anywhere and kids need to figure out a way to set themselves apart, BUT it's not what most might think. The tough part for programs is finding kids who want to be there, get good grades and are amazing teammates. Toxic soccer culture that's based too much on individual accolades OR parents living through their children makes finding quality kids harder than one might think. |
College coaches told FC Copa and Eastside that they don't care what age group a player is in only that they are eligible and these clubs reported as such. You don't offer any information to dispute this. Therefore the statement stands as fact. |
Yup, playing on good teams that win tournaments doesn't matter. The formula is to be the best player you can be, which based on science, being the oldest in the age group helps. |
Won't work because people aren't going to know kids grades. And they won't care. If some kid is eligible for an a group, they are eligible for an age group. Not very contentious at all. Complaining will be dealt with accordingly. |
Leave to where? every quality club in the area has similar policy. You want to play with grade or classmates, form a class team with both boys and girls and play in the P/E class for fun |
They'll go to the club that gives them the best exposure to college coaches. This does not happen on teams full of play downers who get ignored by recruiters. Lather rinse repeat and teams will only be made up of one graduating year. Which will force Aug birthdays to play on the team thats their grade in school. |
Everyone knows which grade all players are in SY. In BY it didnt matter so nobody paid attention. Parents on top teams wont want unrecruitable play downers on their kids teams taking up their kids minutes. |
No such club. 1% can play up and being star. Who will play up anyway |
How are you so dense? FC Copa literally said that they are going to play Aug birthdays "up" on their correct grade in school team. The part FC Copa said about college coaches not caring about players age is correct. BUT its only because all they care about is players graduating year or grade in school. Again because college coaches only care about graduating year or grade in. school FC Copa has chosen (based on cillege coaches feedback) to play Aug birthdays on their grade in school team. So they're not misaligned during college recruiting. You using FC Copa as an example its obv |
When colleges start recruiting clubs instead of individual players, let us know The best exposure to college recruiters is to reach out to them and show your interest. That's how it works, unless you're in the exceptional top 1% and they'll come to you. |
Do what you want it doesnt matter. Play downers will be filtered out once they've gone past their usefulness. By the time they hit 11v11 they'll be on a team thats their grade in school. |
