Clyde had nothing to do with the players departures, he took over the team after the players left. The team is now one of the best teams in this area.

Wrong. He coached the team at the U-13 ECNL age group. The departures took place after that season when 10 players left for the DA.

Wow, after losing 10 players, the team is ranked No. 1 in Virginia! Usually, teams nosedive after so many players depart. Why did the team improve so much?

Perhaps the ECNL Conference just isn’t that good?

In ECNL for that year they are very weak. The team does not do well when it plays anyone good outside the conference.

They are also ranked No. 1 in Virginia by gotsoccer so they must do well in the non-ECNL tournaments (e.g., Jefferson Cup) given that ECNL standings are not taken into account by gotsoccer.

DA teams don't play in tournaments. McLean would get schooled by a few local teams.

It is so easy to spot the fools here. They self-identify when ever they post something.

Idiot, Arlington just played in CASL and got schooled by Bethesda and two non-ECNL/DA teams.

FCV got schooled by PDA in last years Penn Fusion tournament.

Baltimore Celtic beat a weak WSVA team and played WSMD to a draw at the VDA showcase. VDA finished in last place.

Please get your facts together before trying to argue. You look foolish.

VDA is an ECNL club

Another moron. There were DA, ECNL and non-DA/ECNL teams in the same tournament, contradicting the earlier moronic statement above that, "DA teams don't play in tournaments.".

The managers of this site need to screen for idiots. Dude, the Celtics were in the VDA Showcase. Stupid is one thing but stupid and lazy is just un-American.

Celtic was there as well as FCV B team

Why all the name calling? There isn’t consistency to DA teams playing in those showcases. Thats almost a year out and DA teams play in much fewer of these outside DA events. Yeah, once in a while they play, great! But outside of Arlington it doesnt seem like the others focus on that.

just pulled it up http://events.gotsport.com/events/Default.aspx?eventid=70391

Not only are you using information across different age groups to make your point from almost a year ago (teams/coaches may have changed), you are using information from an outdoor showcase in February where Accuweather says the AM temp low was 20°F on Sat and 13°F on Sun? So not only prime paying conditions, but a showcase (not a playoff). Many of those players are coming back from minimal activity over the winter (note I didn't say ALL). Yay team!

Ahhh yes, one whole Baltimore Celtic team out of the whole showcase was there. Sorry, quite the power house. LOL

Why is this thread turning into another 05 thread?

The other salient point is that some DAs use those off season, non-DA events to provide playing time to players that don't see as much in season.

I thought that thread was about McLean board members posting on DCUM that their club is just peachy?

I'm not with McLean, but everyone I know that's gone there has been happy with it. I'm not saying it's all things to all people, but it's far from a sinking ship.

Or get that chip off your shoulder and move on. You sound bitter and petty.

+1. This seems to be one of the same posters who has railed against McLean in the past. Lots of white noise on this board.
