There seems to be one poster who continues to write of "special programs" or school in McPS where the alleged should have attended. This poster doesn't actually know much about the students who they say should have gone to another school. Just stop already |
Then get your facts straight honey. The student that got shot was the "criminal" with the ankle monitor, not the shooter. |
Get your facts straight honey. BOTH were criminals. The shooter recently transferred into Wootton from Blake HS in Silver Spring. Charged with attempted second‑degree murder, two counts of first‑degree assault, two counts of second‑degree assault, and (multiple) firearms‑related charges such as possession of a dangerous weapon on school property. Potentially faces 30+ years of charges and will remain in custody at an adult (not juvenile) detention facility without bond. The shooter claimed in court that he wasn't the aggressor. The kid shot is the same kid who told his "mental health professional" last year he was bullied at Wootton, making all the fuss that got the Principal replaced. His mom wanted to transfer him out but claims she was blocked. There is also a claim that the kid shot was wearing an ankle monitor. |
Source? |
wait... Are you saying he must have been a criminal because he went to Blake?!?!! |
So this is the kind of thing that SROs are theoretically designed to deal with. Being embedded in the school with a consistent presence they are aware of these developing issues with kids who have histories. |
But in court yesterday it was stated the shooter had no priors - so he was not a criminal prior to Monday. You have no evidence that he should have been placed anywhere else other than the public school where he lives, which is where he was. While I get wishing there was a way this could have been avoided, it would be a horrible policy for MCPS to just start sending kids to alternate placements because they transferred mid year - and I know no one is really honestly saying they should, but thats how many of these posts read when you say that young man should have been in an alternate school! We simply don't know enough yet to make that statement. Now, if the victim's mom pursues legal action, that may lead to an investigation on the shooters school records and then it'd be known if the shooter had a history in MCPS of causing trouble. The shooter could not have been connected to the bullying last year though since he was not at Wootton then. |
Trying to imply things and play the race card again? Read it again. Maybe with glasses this time. The shooter recently transferred into Wootton from Blake HS in Silver Spring. That's a fact. That explains why the parent's at Wootton don't seem to know this kid, since most Wootton kids are pretty sociable and hang out together or at each others homes. So how and where did the shooter (with no priors) obtain a ghost gun and ammunition? Is that legal? Oh, wait. It's one of the charges against him. Regardless whether or not he had priors, the shooter is now facing a possible 30+ years of charges and will remain in custody at an adult (not juvenile) detention facility without bond. That's a fact as well. He'll have his day in court with an attorney, but do you really think he'll walk right back into Wootton again? I'd love to see MCPS do that! Maybe we can lobby to fire the new Principal and his supporters in the same day? The mother of the kid who was shot gave an interview. Put it all out there. She claimed her son told her, the school and his "mental health professional" that he was a victim of bullying last year and tried to transfer him out. That was all the big fuss last year about Wootton that resulted in the Principal (who was a good one) getting replaced. The shooter claimed in court that he wasn't the aggressor. Those are all facts. There is also a claim that the kid shot was wearing an ankle bracelet. Those are for the hardcore kids one step away from incarceration. In other words, the same kid just happened to be involved in both the alleged 'racism' mess at Wootton last year, and shooting incident this year. Quite a coincidence. So if, as his mother claimed in her TV interview, she requested school re-assignment, why wasn't it granted by MCPS? Why didn't the new Principal accomodate the request? That is the story behind the stories here. There are many at MCPS that need to be fired this time. |
I genuinely do not understand why any of the "facts" about the victim make him a criminal. Being bullied and working with a mental health professional make you a criminal? |
The shooters sister was a missing child in 2022. Around age 16 and police were looking for her as a runaway or possibly endangered. Mommy has quite a history as well. Like you said we don't know enough. What we do know is a gun shot by a human hurt another human at a school filled with kids. That is what we should all be addressing the guns, mental health, and school procedures in these matters. If it comes out that the shooter was being bullied and the school system did nothing will that process ever be addressed, so it would be less likely to end in a child being shot. Nope. However the shooters family unfortunately lost their right to privacy when he took that gun and shot someone inside a school and when mommy & sister tried to help him escape. |
The pp is basically making a lot of wild assumptions to construction the worst possible scenario for each of the individuals and entities involved. Namely the shooter, victim, and MCPS. Are those assumptions correct? Probably not. |

This was posted on ND today.
Anyone have sympathy for the shooter? "He is not the monster. The kids who were beating him up and bullying and the staff who did nothing . He would go home bloody but nobody did anything nobody cared about him until he opened your eyes 👀" I don't have sympathy.... but I do realize the system has failed these children again and again and again. So have their parents. Yes they have responsiblity here both parents. |
Isn’t it that both are criminals but only 1 was before the incident… the victim? |
| If the principal was replaced, there must have been a reason. Are you saying there was no evidence of bullying and it was just one woman spewing lies who got the principal fired with no investigation whatsoever? Wow, that’s some real power that one woman yields. |

I hope people aren’t using this thread to get the facts. There are so many false claims and accusations. Stick to what you know for a fact from the police/court directly.
One child shot another. He was new to Wootton and lived in the cluster. In court, it was stated he had no prior record. We do not know his motive for a fact. Just a lot of rumors. The victim is in the hospital. We have heard nothing official about a criminal record. Mom reports he was bullied and denied a COSA to transfer. The accused was not bullying him last year since he was not at Wootton himself. There’s a poster who keeps connecting Mr Nelson’s dismissal to the victim but as a Wootton parent, I don’t see any connection. We don’t know if Mom and sister knew the accused had shot someone. I know it’s hard to patiently wait for the investigation to conclude but that’s what needs to be done. As a Wootton parent, I am more concerned with the MCPS response after, particularly the poorly executed reunification process and the decision to open schools on Tuesday. Yes, they later stated it was optional, non-instructional and about emotional support but that was definitely not the message we received before the school day started. Staff and students felt pressure to show up to a place where they were traumatized less than 12 hours after returning home. |
