Sidwell football article in post....what are the parents saying?

Is this child's play or are Maret and Sidwell powerhouses of football in the D.C. area? All of private school football is a big joke. What's with the fascination and obsession about football scores from kids pretending to play a man's game? Flip the score the result is the same. This is a joke.

Sidwell lost it last 2 games 89-0....Flint Hill is a sports school, but what's the excuse for Maret?

You don't know sports. Get back to your Little Leagues. Who cares the order. Immaterial. Just kids. No athletes here, but okay to pretend. That's what your graduates do best. Pretend.

What's with the fascination and obsession about serious HS football? You want to go on to a big-time program to play big-time college football? Good for you...apparently, some of those "men" who are in charge of "a man's game" molest defense little boys, huh? That's awesome that the best HS football players around get exposed to great role models..molesters like Sandusky, liars like Tressel, assholes like Rich Rodriguez and Mike Leach. Do you think that the better HS football programs build "better character" in the boys than is the case in private school football? If not, who cares? How long are you going to relish HS football glory days for, anyway?

No sex abuse scandals in private school? You have blinders on.

You're missing the point, 15:04.

Considering it's a Quaker school it's pretty amazing that they even have a team.

Didn't Sidwell have their own pedophile teacher who sexually assaulted kids?

Not the point--the point is, judging a school--or a person--by how good they are at football is idiotic. A "man's game"? Hah.

YOU are the one missing the point. Sidwell's sports program is putrid. If one doesn't care about that fact, there is no issue. But if one does have some affinity for athletics, it may be an issue for his/her child.

Sports program? Or football team? Seems like many posts have clearly shown that the sports program is not, in fact, "putrid."

It is. Sidwell fields competitive teams in sports nobody cares about.

Manifesto McRant: I've had it. I am so tired of what appears to be one mean-spirited poster targeting one school and, for the most part, one team.

Who am I? I am not a Sidwell parent. I am not a Sidwell graduate. I don't have children who play football. I do have kids who play sports at other DC-area independent schools. I do have good friends who graduated from Sidwell, and a couple who teach at Sidwell. I do think it is incredibly nasty to constantly harp on the fortunes of one team of high school kids, some of whom are as young as 14, mocking their efforts when unsuccessful under the mantle of criticizing the "state of Sidwell athletics." I believe that as much fun as crazy DCUM world is, occasionally it would be good to lock a thread, but I get that that is not the policy and I respect that it's a policy that has worked well for this very successful site.

So, I am going to start posting results of other Sidwell sports teams in this thread, and lots of them. And I'm going to bump other threads up when the Sidwell Football Stalker posts their usual mean-spirited responses.

Sorry, but I'm just tired of reading this stuff for a year.
