If the did not discuss middle 6-8, how are they getting public feedback on this aspect of the redraw?
Asking separately, in isolation, “would you be in favor of middle 6-8” without the context of the impact of boundary redraws is not an open and transparent process. It is not a full opportunity for public feedback and comment. Trump and Musk are horrible. They are also doing exactly what they ran on. That does not make any of what they are doing right. However, it highlights how deep of a betrayal these actions by the SB feel to the people who voted for them. This is not right. |
FCPS School Board
“We’ll kick you while you are down, because we can.” Fairfax Democrats “Your vote is ours no matter what we do.” |
We are in the same situation. And yet, Reid doesn’t care about future votes. She will implement this and have it on her resume that she rezoned the infamous Fairfax country public school system based on equity before moving to her next democratic office elsewhere in country. Her allegiance is not to this area. |
This was their plan before Covid. I tended a virtual boundary meeting during Covid where parents were given a survey full of confusing questions. |
Our children are chess pieces for a case study. |
Interesting. In the meetings I’ve attended for this iteration, it has not been evident at all. Nor can you find it in any of their publicly posted documents. |
Right, I attended one of the in person boundary meetings (at Lake Braddock and it was down to standing room only) and 6th to middle was not mentioned. If you have a rep who actually does public outreach, I think Dunne is pretty much the only one, your rep will probably mention it if you can get on one of their Zoom meeting calls or if they come and speak to your PTA or a community group. That’s how I first heard about the push for 6th to middle and also on here. But most people are really under-informed - IF they even know boundary changes are on the table, they don’t know about 6th to middle or the push for UPK. Sadly a lot of the big community groups on FB and ND shut down all the discussions about boundary changes because it devolves into fighting or they have a “no politics” rule. |
+ 1 to the second point |
I saw a thread on ND a few days ago discussing the recent property tax bill hike. I thought, “wow, I wonder if people are aware of the FCPS push for making middle school 6-8 and adding universal pre-k. I wonder if people are aware of this push. How will we pay for that?” Before I posted, I read the thread to see if it had been mentioned. Nope. But this was there: “All. FYI. ND unilaterally just shut down another thread discussing school budget. This one is alive for now.” What is going on? |
How far are you from Annandale? I mean, silly to think boundaries won’t change. And shame on your realtor for not sharing the possible changes and boasting “great school Pyramid”. |
I don’t know why people refuse to remember this. It was not a secret. They didn’t have to say it on the campaigns because they all knew that was on their open to do list. |
Will the proposed boundary changes include an estimate of the cost of the proposed changes? Even if you do not have kids in school, you will have to pay for the changes. |
Ok, Gatehouse. |
Yep. |
You are very welcome, buffet democrat. |
