I just received a leather backpack similar to this one for a gift. I’m not sure how I feel about it. It matches my favorite coat and shoes perfectly, so I can see myself using it a lot, but I also can’t think of any time I’ve seen other women using something similar. FWIW I am a SAHM and currently carry an ugly canvas backpack 90% of the time because I still need to carry diapers and stuff for my toddler, and hate over the shoulder diaper bags. I think the gifter thought this would be a more refined look with the same practicality. Thoughts?

| No one? |
| Better than the ugly canvas one you are currently using. |
| Love it! |
| It will make your back really hot in warm weather |
| It will age beautifully and be useful for far longer than any other diaper bag. |
| I like it! Just start using it in place of your old one. |
| It's not bad but if it's structured like the one in the picture it might look too manly. Also, leather backpacks are always heavy on their own. You'll feel the weight on your shoulder even if it's half empty. |
Why does it matter if other women are using similar bags? For the life of me, I can't wrap my head around this incessant need to follow and fit in with others. You have already stated that the backpack matches your coat and shoes perfectly. You should already be carrying this bag. |
Come one, PP. We all care to some extent how we are viewed by others. If I didn’t care how I fit in with others, I would wear my wedding dress and slippers daily. Fashion is about looking good and standing out in a good way, not just standing out for the hell of it. |
Carrying a leather backpack instead of an ugly canvas backpack is hardly standing out for the hell of it. It's not even standing out. Leather bags are pretty common in the US. |
| OP here. Thanks everyone for the input. I like the bag and will definitely use it, since I don’t have anything to lose. Mostly wanted to see if people thought it was too manly, or I should just use something that is more obviously a diaper bag? Is is weird for an adult to still carry a backpack everywhere? I know college kids get away with it, and I so prefer that to the le champe or llbean totes I see other moms lugging, |
Well leather BAGS are common, but leather backpacks are kind of different. |
No, I don't find the backpack to be too masculine. I'm not a backpack carrier, but I know plenty of adults who are. It seems that carrying other types of bags as a diaper bag is trendy at the moment anyway. Lot's of women are carrying the LV Neverfull in place of a diaper bag. |
No, not really. |
