The only way to minimize RAE is to have teams and leagues for Late Developers only. |
It works better -- of course not ideal -- when there's enough to form a trapped team and play in a trapped league. |
Curious, can you explain how that would work? |
You just have some leagues be BY and others be SY. Or you allow players in the second half of the eligibility window in either BY or SY to play down before u14. |
There's no win, your spiritual leader Christian Lavars even said that he questions US Soccer's ability to mandate BY in one of his podcasts. What he meant by this is ECNL could easily adopt rules that essentially make their league SY even within a BY context. Think of this a different way. If Ford Chevy Toyota etc all had to make a single decision about how they sell cars and everyone would agree to sell cars that way from then on would they be able to? The answer is no. This is why ECNL and US Club wanted US Soccer to mandate SY. US Soccer saw through what they were trying to do and put it on leagues themselves to agree on the rules. (Knowing that they all hate each other and can't agree on anything) |
Higher leagues having both BY and others having SY will go a long way to reduce RAE as Q1 could star in one and in another Q3 could star. For late developers it is to tough to accurately measure slow growers (and not just small kids) so people would cheat the system. And say age 14-15 to address RAE would be too old for most players as RAE is so cumulative. |
Got it, so US Soccer is completely inept as a governing body. What a petty, cut off your nose to spite your face response if that was actually their thought process. |
Sorry if you didn't get the response you wanted. However this is how the game is played. ECNL thought they could stand behind US Culb and use astroturfing campaigns and parents to pressure US Soccer. US Soccer represents much more than youth girls competitive interests. Parents never seem to figure out that Soccer leadership knows that within 3-5 years most of the most vocal critics, proponents, whatever will filter away and a new crop of critics and proponents will replace them. There is no need to make quick changes on anything. |
The "hate each other" leagues will act as a collective (https://www.usyouthsoccer.org/news/2024/10/23/us-youth-soccer-us-club-soccer-ayso-statement-on-forthcoming-u-s-soccer-decision-on-calendar-year-vs-birth-year-registration/) and one head of a league on LinkedIn said that SY is a done deal while another has had multiple podcasts supporting SY. The leagues, as a collective, needed the mandate to be sunset. BY is sunset. That is winning. |
BY is not "sunset" In 2026 leagues can choose to be BY SY or whatever. You like to spin what's been relayed. But that's not reality. |
I'll try to make it simple since most people here aren't true soccer folks (keeping in mind our pay-to-play system will make it almost impossible to achieve below the real Academies level) There would be real and measurable objective criteria markers to be considered a late developer. btw Late Developers are high skilled quality players with clear potential being only held back by slower maturation. Not just small kids. A club like Bethesda would have all 2012 late developers on a 2012 'B' team which would have the same levels of coaching, training and play in MLS Next against other legitimate late developer teams. Not a NAL team and league with kids who don't have the quality to make a MLS Next team. Those players of course will occasionally play with the 'A' team. As said, the system and culture doesn't exist to facilitate this. |
Good luck convincing ECNL to not adopt SY. We know you will try. |
Good point, the leagues in the collective probably want BY so the pressured USSF to sunset the BY mandate so they can unilaterally agree to go with BY for fall 2026 going forward. Cagey that collective. |
You are the same guy in every thread, astroturfing...ECNL is US Club. Who is the soccer leadership? are they the same as the deep state? |
You should write murder mysteries! The character development is amazing. How you gleaned that enthralling storyline from a one-page PDF is incredible. The intrigue of USSF and how they uncovered the evil plot of ECNL. The hidden motivations of the evil Lavars. You even managed to work in the car industry somehow. This is good stuff! None of it based in any sort of reality but makes for great storytelling for sure. Tell us more about what Lavars is thinking, his next evil moves and how scooby doo is going to stop SY before it ever gets off the ground. lol, the BY crowd is holding on a bit tight. |
