tj sis/essay 2018

how was that for everyone? dc says ‘prompts were okay.’ Did anyone finish really early (like an hour) because some of dc’s friends did

Can someone share what questions were asked this time?
Anonymous
If they finished 1 hour early, they either have probably been prepped to death and expected the questions or they bombed the tests on purpose because they don't want to go to TJ!

In all seriousness though, my DC also said it was "okay". We'll see. Now the long wait...

My Dc says it was easy. There’s still an alternative test left, so I cannot tell what the questions were at this time.

There are kids who did not take the test today due to various reasons and will be taking it another day. It would not be appropriate to discuss the questions.

The same old prompts nothing new.

What stem person or event influenced you?

I don't think its right for the admissions office to give the same test. I am thinking they will administer a different one.

I also think they'll change the questions. My DD will take the test on 2/9, but she has a lot of friends who took it today. I'm pretty sure they are going to tell her what their questions were, though I even told her not to ask.

Can you people not try to game the system by asking the prompts? Is there no integrity?
Anonymous
they'll have different questions, and if it's anything like last year, the questions were harder during the make-up test.
Anonymous
Of course they'll change the questions. You think they are smart enough to come up with only 3 (or 5) questions and have to repeat it for eternity? Morons...

I have a kid doing alternate test. They said different questions would be used for SIS and the math question. They do this every year.

why are the questions on alternate test day harder? any proof or just personal feeling?

Just from experience for the last 2 years. The math questions were harder, and from my personal experience (so just a very small sampling), only kids with valid excuses (death in family) are offered admission. I knew several kids who were granted alternate date because of conflict with other activities but were denied admission.
