Rap music do you have any rules about it?

Do you let your teen play in car if you’re driving?

Yes, my rule is that anything that's not classical music is just noise. They would be allowed to listen to noise in limited quantities, but they listen to classical like me, so for now, I've dodged that bullet.

Yes my rule is that crap is never played, period.

Rappers are apparently promoting opioids.
Lovely.

Do you all have teens?? Most teen boys listen to rap

They can listen to anything they want unless we are in the company of someone whose family I know to have stricter rules, however I do not allow them to sing along with any lyrics that contain slurs in my presence and I have discouraged them from singing such lyrics at all.

we listen to everything. I've found I like some rap and hip hop. I'm surprised.

An easier way to discourage them from singing certain slurs is to have them sing it in public. They'll stop soon enough. White teenagers are quite tough when they are in their own element. Let them step out for awhile and see how it flies in mixed company.

Same here. I never, ever thought I would like any of it, but my sons made me a bunch of mix tapes, and I find I like at least 50% of the songs. I like a lot of Ray Schrimmer, and I love Kid Cudi's Pursuit of Happiness. Still not getting Lil' Uzi Vert (They think he's amazing), but I'm trying.

The only rule is driver picks the music. We don't otherwise censor our teens' music though.

Life is too short to censor music!

We used to listen to rap in college! Whatever. I wouldn't have "rules" about what kind of music my teenagers can listen to.

My rule is they can’t turn it off when I’m listening, but if they ask politely I’ll turn it to some lame pop station after the song I’m listening to goes off. It pisses me off to no end when I’m listening to something I like and some goofy teenager walks in and orders Alexa to play Taylor Swift or some other such nonsense.

Opioids will make it even shorter.

I was the biggest hard core rap fan in the 90’s and I have never tried drugs or committed a crime besides maybe public drunkenness in college. Get a grip.
