Water!

How do you make yourself drink more of it? What is the magic number to drink a day?

I don't believe there is a magic number. I drink when I'm thirsty. That's why we have thirst.

Half your body weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 130, you should aim for 65 oz a day. There will be frequent bathroom trips.

What if you’re never really “thirsty”? I mean, I have coffee in the AM, but I wouldn’t say I’m thirsty unless I’m eating, and want something to rinse it all down.

Until your #1 comes out light yellow to clear. Shouldn't be dark yellow.

Actually, many people don't feel thirsty until they really need to drink. Early signs of thirst are often mistaken for hunger, so we eat when a glass of water would likely satisfy. A better indicator for hydration is to notice the color of your urine. It should be pale yellow to clear in properly hydrated people.

There are free apps out there to track your water intake and remind you to drink. I have found that helpful in meeting my daily water goals.

I try to drink 64 ounces a day.

My goal for the new year is to drink 8 12 oz glasses each day. I started last week and so far it hasn't really been hard, though I am using the bathroom a lot. The key is to keep a glass or water bottle near you as much as you can

+1 The body has ways of telling us. I never felt thirsty, but I kept getting headaches. Since I consistently upped my daily water intake, I rarely get headaches anymore.

Keep a 1.5 liter kettle on your desk, and tell yourself you have to drink one pot in the morning and the other in the afternoon. I find plain, heated water to be more palatable than cold water, but you could also go the extra step and put an herbal teabag in it.

Download Plant Nanny! It’ll make you feel bad for killing your plants if you don’t drink.

Also, half your body weight + 8oz/hour exercise. So 120/2=60oz + 16oz=76oz for me.

Just relax, jeez - why all the stress about drinking more water. Here's simple - find a tea that you like, and enjoy as often as possible. I keep a box in my desk, and have a cup about every hour during work. You'll get plenty of water, and antioxidants and nonesuch to boot.

I try to drink three liters (~100oz) per day, and have for years. But, I also exercise daily, sweat a ton, and am prone to kidney stones, so need to stay more hydrated than the average bear. I always have a water bottle with me, and we have a carbonator at home so I can mix it up with fizzy drinks.

I drink water from a tumbler with a straw, or a water bottle with a straw. I've noticed using a straw really helps me drink more because I drink more in one sip. Both my tumbler and bottle are 24 oz, and I usually find I drink around 125 oz a day. I started drinking more in pregnancy when I needed more, and just kept up the volume. I've heard adding fruit helps some people drink more.
