Travis and Taylor

Oh they’re still out there. Every now and then just for fun I glance through some of those Reddit snark sites, and you would not believe some of the stuff they come up with, way beyond the PR angle. They somehow manage to twist and spin every single story and picture of them. I’m just amazed that anyone could have that degree of hate for people they’ll never know and waste their time and energy droning on about it as much as they do.

Is it the opinion of most fans that the relationship's purely organic, always has been, and still is? Other people didn't suggest it would be a good opportunity. Or else Taylor and Travis didn't have/don't have any thought to advance their images through this pairing.

Is this authentic ... Travis showed up at the concert because he liked-liked her. They got into contact. She fell for him. Now they're a couple in love.

That sounds real to you? It sounds like some corny teen movie.

And yet she hasn’t.

Because she's in her mid 30s now, anyone will do when the clock is ticking. Women get desperate and settle at her age.

PP. I was looking for confirmation from fans if this is the narrative they believe.

There is one bizarre poster who has extrapolated a couple of lines from songs and claims she knows all about Joe Alwyn's mental health. Meanwhile, there are zero actual news reports about anything like that.

Just googled it and there are a lot of TMZ type stuff that says he had mental health issues.

It may or may not be true, but it is easy to find tabloid articles about it.

The in group/out group tactics of calling people bizarre or weird just adds to the overall mean girl feel of Taylor fandoms- so go you?

It is indeed bizarre behavior to take the lyrics of songs and insist they are entirely factual and not just, you know, analogies or literary license. What actually IS mean girl behavior is insisting someone has mental health issues with zero hard evidence, just gossip sites and song lyrics. Pretty damaging and absolutely mean.

BUT TMZ reported it therefore it must be true!

You think CNN is going to cover Joe A’s mental health? I don’t. He did have this to say on BBC:

"The one thing I love about the way Sally Rooney writes male characters is she seems quite interested in the idea of male mental health and not shying away from that," Joe, who starred in the 2018 movie The Favourite, says.
"With Nick, there are elements of it that I can certainly relate to. I could certainly relate to that frustration with yourself, of feeling things sometimes intensely but not knowing how to communicate them."

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/article/6b8f4531-65ee-4a5e-8ad6-1e92f1891b42

Good for him!

As far as taking the lyrics of songs, Taylor has specifically said she trained her fans to find those Easter Eggs:

“Fans are along for the ride and love to decode her hidden messages and clues — and Swift knows this. “I've trained them to be that way,” Swift said to Entertainment Weekly in 2019. “I love that they like the cryptic hint-dropping. Because as long as they like it, I'll keep doing it.“

It is manipulative and weird of her to do this IMHO, but again, not bizarre of someone to see more of these than she intended because she is manipulating her fans to see crap in her lyrics. Pretending that it is a bizarre thing to find Easter eggs and clues to her life in her lyrics goes against everything Taylor Swift has built in her fandom

Just Googled it ... TMZ type stuff"
Heaven forbid any of us is ever declared suffering from poor mental health by Dr. TMZ. Where did the media outlets get the idea that Joe has depression? Taylor lyrics. Taylor social media. Taylor fans. He hasn't said boo about it.

You are trying to point out that Joe doesn’t have mental health issues. Cool- I have no idea if he does or doesn’t. I am not saying we can possibly even know that. Frankly, I dont care.

My point is that saying people are “bizarre” for stating something you can find in the grocery store aisle tabloids is trying to assign other-ness to a person for expressing an opinion that is fairly commonplace. The establishment of “other-ness” is a hallmark of Taylor fandom as well as mean girl cliques and bullies everywhere.

I didn't say anyone was bizarre for talking about Joe Alwyn's mental health. Creating and spreading diagnoses of someone's mental health is the way of society now, I know. Was just labeling the source as Taylor Swift.

It’s bully behavior to suggest someone has mental illness in your lyrics when you say you have trained your fans to find clues.

I like her music but I do not think she always makes kind choices.

Nobody is perfect.

What lyrics are you talking about and how do you know it’s about Joe?

I’ll ask you a question. Why do people think Joe has depression when he has never stated such?

Some truly mentally unwell people out there who fixate on hating certain relationships for no actual reason. The signs of extremely unhappy and insecure people.

When a relationship is genuine and sacred to someone, they protect it. They wouldn't commodify it or shamelessly offer it up for public consumption the way Ms. Swift and this nitwit brute have.
