You should read the whole article. It stated that immigrant families are more likely to have working family members than native born families. Also definition in the study of welfare includes not just TANF, but also reduced school lunches, CHIP, and Medicaid which many people do not consider welfare as much as TANF.

So immigrants are taking low-paying jobs. Sounds like we need to figure out a way to raise wages. So many companies are sloughing costs off onto the government.

Immigrants are working. Their unemployment rate is lower than that for the native born. We need more!

I'm going to bite and say that a big part of the immigrant debate is inherent human nature. We are a deeply tribal species, and seeing large swaths of unfamiliar people filling into your territory is something that alarms many people. The icing on the cake is when their children (who become citizens due to birthright) are using resources which in ther minds should rightfully go to third,fourth, fifth generation citizens.

All that being considered, I think many first world countries have successfully integrated people's from across the world in many major cities. It's possible that in the few hundred years the way we view race and ethnicity will be much more homogeneous. We are becoming more similar than different, languages are dying out, and people's level of religious observance is fading.

Over populated my child's elementary school and half her class is taught in Spanish. Learn to f g speak English for starters and it is not the United States job to feed these children. You come here at least be able to provide for your children.

I think it's great to be bilingual and many Americans speak Spanish. I purposely had our nanny speak to my children exclusively in Spanish so they would become fluent.
