And somehow, choking and sputtering, Schultz managed to survive that blue wave and now we're stuck with her Trumpy BS for I don't even know how long.

????I thought she lost.

I’m seeing Schultz as out? Laura Jane has more at this point.

Get out the rubber stamp. Open your checkbook.

DCUM comments on these threads were so unrepresentative of actual voters. Glad to know people saw through the nasty rhetoric.

Schultz is pretty much done with almost 90% reporting.

You realize the school board is not a taxing authority, right?

Yes. But, with this BOS, that won't be a problem........they will work hand in hand.

At least Schultz challenged them. There will be no counter balance at all. That is not a good thing. And, many of her points were on target.

Schultz and Wilson are both out. That’s what you get when you have nothing constructive to offer and simply try to obstruct your colleagues.

Well, there are 16,500 voters who disagree with you with 89% of the precincts reporting.

Neither race is even close.

Mobasheri needs better “internal polls.”

I split my vote between GOP and Dem so I am not pleased it went all Dem. Maybe this is exactly the wrong thing to say because it's officially nonparty race, but the GOP needs better candidates. Karloutsos was good in person but not enough people knew what she stood for, she has Trump connections, and she's a bit of a carpetbagger. GOP at large folks had some of the same issues (tho didn't have a vote splitter like Mobasheri). In any case, parents are going to have to turn out if they want to keep the Board in check. No killer issues with any particluar dem, just too much. Course there are barely any GOPers left in any Fairfax elected positions. Big Blue.

If all the votes for Mobasheri had gone to Karloutsos, Tholen would still win by a very large margin.

Tholen cleaned up in all the Dranesville precincts that feed into Herndon, McLean, Marshall and Westfield. She also won most of the eastern Langley precincts. Karloutsos only won a handful of precincts in western Great Falls like Forestville. Mobasheri won none.

The Republicans earned this. By aligning their message entirely with a subset of Langley parents in western Great Falls (“One Great Falls”) who demonized the School Board and expressed disdain for the rest of the county, they ensured the defeat of their candidates.

I've watched enough board meetings to find them unproductive. Once the school board decided to use the permanent capacity and Strauss could muster enough votes privately there was no reason for them to blabber. Each could simply have said I'm glad you're now agreeing to use resources wisely, trailers cost money, and voted yes.

Schultz actually flapped her mouth in 2019 at a work session when Strauss suggested moving mixed housing from Tysons to Langley- complained that all single family homes, townhouses, condos, etc don't have the same cost.

I voted for Tholen because she was the only one familiar with 2 new objectionable school sites and had no reference to IB at Herndon [Mobasheri]or Langley [Karloutsos + weird magnet ideas].

Keys Gamarra is basically a decent person. Omeish and the Rachna are loud and those mouths will express opinions and facts. Buford was out for me after mentioning possible IB for Langley. Not a fan of magnets or IB which is too expensive compared to AP - inequitable per pupil cost.

This is good. Another four years of a Democrat-controlled SB and people will get a good hard look at what their social engineering policies really mean.
