RFK: why can't people just eat healthy fresh foods? Are they stupid!??
Country: uhhh Mr. Kennedy, you realize most of us are poor and didn't grow up with a silver spoon in our mouths like you, sir. Fresh foods are extraordinarily more expensive than packaged processed foods.
RFK: ok, then we will make processed foods more expensive than healthier foods to change habits.
It'll be funny when they find out to make junk foods more expensive than good healthy stuff, they will need to significantly cut subsidies to farmers who are making way too much corn and soybeans, which are used to make processes junk at reduced costs. Somehow I think all of those red state reps and senators will get mad when they start proposing cutting farm subsidies to make junk foods more expensive.
Except they actually aren’t that expensive. Ground beef is maybe $5 per pound on average. A dozen eggs are conservatively $4 a dozen. Butter is cheap. A pound of ground beef, 4 eggs, 4 tablespoons of butter gets you 1700 “calories” (which are a stupid measure of energy) per day at a daily cost of under $7.50 per day, which is $225 per person ina. 30-day month.
