| We like quirky hipster names that are hopefully of the time without being too trendy. I recently heard the name Selah and love it. Thoughts or suggestions? Prounounced like “say-la” |
|
I would pronounce Selah the same was a Sela. Seel-ah. Not Say-la. Just FYI.
It's a cute name. |
| Seraphina |
| It will always be mispronounced and perhaps misspelled. If you're ok with that, go for it. |
|
I would probably think it's pronounced SEEla like the actress Sela Ward - it's nice though.
Simone is my favorite S name. |
| Sabine |
| Sadie |
| Sidra--love it. She was Jerry's girlfriend on Seinfeld! |
| Sloane (from Ferris Bueller and the tennis player) |
Shoshanna -- Jerry's real-life girlfriend once upon a time |
It's a biblical reference and and a song by Lauryn Hill (also her daughter's name - Bob Marley's granddaughter). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LBAbWdBWtA |
Isn't this an oxymoron? |
|
I wouldn't know how to pronounce it and then would probably say Sell-ah.
I like Sabrina, Seline, and Samantha. |
I agree, any "quirky hipster name" practically by definition is going to be a generational marker for your daughter all her life, just like Nancy, Barbara, and Susan are for Boomer women. If you actually just want your DD to have a unique name that no one else will have, go with Susanna, which hasn't been in the top 1000 in several years. |
