Isn't this an oxymoron?

I agree, any "quirky hipster name" practically by definition is going to be a generational marker for your daughter all her life, just like Nancy, Barbara, and Susan are for Boomer women.

If you actually just want your DD to have a unique name that no one else will have, go with Susanna, which hasn't been in the top 1000 in several years.

I would have pronounced Selah as "Seh-lah" which is how it is always read in synagogue.

I agree that Susanna or Susannah (or Suzanne) would be unusual, pretty, but easily pronounceable at a glance. Probably not really the quirky vibe you're going for though. If you don't mind correcting people on pronunciation, Selah seems to fit what you're going for.

Selah is fine. PP's might not know how to pronounce it by the spelling (though it's not an invented name, as mentioned upthread), but most of the time you learn a person's name by someone speaking it out loud, so that's not a big deal.

Something about your post "quirky, hipster, just heard this name" tells me you're white and don't realize this is more commonly an AA name. Might not matter to you in picking a name, but try not to Columbus when you introduce your kid.

Sloane is an awesome name but so overused.

Selah is not a hipster name.

I agree with the Susanna suggestion. Fits with more of the grandma-style names that seem to be more 'hipster' these days. It's easy to pronounce, to spell and it's extremely unlikely that there will be another in her class.

Actually Selah is Hebrew, although I don’t know that it’s very common in Jewish circles.

OP here, thank you for all the insights, impressions and additional on theme suggestions. We heard it from another Reform Jewish family, (we are as well) and are aware of both the biblical reference and Rastafarian use. Since it is a Hebrew word, it seemed less appropriation to us. Though from the resume concept that has been mentioned in other name threads, DH does give it a ding for that.

The other child we met with the name, the Parents introduced her with the Say-la pronunciation, and we just accepted it, so useful to hear how others would have interpreted it or have heard it.

I agree Sloan is a great name, but we have close friends with a close in age daughter to ours (she’s 7months now) so we didn’t want to go that direction.
