Is there anything better than marrying a rich guy you met in college?

Anonymous
My niece was a sorority girl at a somewhat selective party college. Majored in communications. Dated a rich boy junior and senior year. Went to NYC after college, has big city fun for a few years working low-prestige jobs, still keeps in touch with the rich guy. Marries the rich guy at age 27. His daddy owns new car dealerships in flyover country. Expensive wedding, move into a custom new $2m lake house in flyover country right after wedding, she drives a new luxury SUV every day. They are the big fish in a small pond.

Template: Stay in shape and sink your claws into a rich boy in college, then reel him back in before your looks fade.

And what happens to her when the rich guy (who is rich because of his parents, not his own skills) gets bored and moves on to a younger model? Do they have a prenup that protects his assets?

^ but yeah. If he's actually a good (non-douchey) dude and you have a good, fulfilling relationship with him...marrying someone rich is a huge advantage, and anyone who tries to argue otherwise is lying

I wouldn't be privy to the existence of a prenup, but both of their names are on the mansion, according to a tax lookup. I doubt there was a prenup. Flyover people aren't as cynical as big city sharks.

He'll be balding middle aged man and in flyover country. Slim pickings.

These are car dealers. It’s the ultimate shark business. Give them a little credit, even in flyover country.

You're only a 1hr flight to NYC or Chicago in flyover country. Or 2-4 hr drive to Chicago in your brand spanking new luxury SUV.

Eww, this sounds like a miserable life to me. I give your niece maybe a couple years before she starts overdoing the prescription painkillers.

Not worth living in flyover country and having to drive everywhere.

Well, the mansion is in their names instead of an llc, trust, etc., which teases out a lack of savvy.

Yes, there is something better, marrying I guy you love, working and earning money yourself, keeping your self esteem... what a shallow OP we have.

In a few years... kids, private schools, kids travel sports, yoga, Whole Foods, lake activities, travel, probably a winter or summer home acquisition. Yes, a miserable existence.
