Sorry Q3/4 parents you lost and your kid still has to be slightly above average.

I keep seeing this take and it’s so dumb. USSF already said anyone can change in 26/27 and ECNL USYS and AYSO already said they would change if they could. I think nothing at all will happen next year but I also think it’s delusional to think nothing changes in 26.

Just because USSF says they will allow teams to change things up doesn’t mean clubs want to deal with multiple age cut offs for various teams. Also many states have different SY cutoff dates for their grades so this would cause most states to be different unless they don’t mind trapping some kids as long as it’s less.

Also US Club has not said anything. Feel free to cite where US Club has even commented on this.

US Club = ECNL for the purposes of this discussion and they have said plenty. Yet again intentionally ignoring the writing on the wall.

Tell me what they’ve done… words are nothing until you back them up with action.
They did join with much of youth soccer to pressure US Soccer to remove the birth year age cutoff mandate for fall 2026.

Other than ECNL and the bulk of youth soccer changing the age cutoffs to school year in 2026, what other reason could they have for pressuring US Soccer remove the mandate?

As of now US Club and UYSY have not said what their future plans will be. I’m sure they were hoping US soccer would do it for them. What a relaxing if the mandate will mean for leagues is still TBD.

They've done nothing which is why we're here talking an an anonymous forum. However, the reason for the discussion is because they want to see it changed and said they will support the change. You clearly aren't around an ECNL club right now where actions are already taking place. We're trying to help you out by relaying our stories so you aren't blindsided when they do inevitably announce the change. But sure, keep your head in the sand and be SHOCKED when there is an age change either in 2026 or gradually implemented in 2025.

I’ll believe it when I see it. Not just hear about a few clubs grouping players together for training.

I mean...did you see US Soccer's press release saying that they will remove the mandate and allow leagues to decide what is in their best interest?

That doesn’t mean leagues are going to side the way you want them to.

Stupid moron, wait for the next ECNL podcast. Changing is coming.

Even if change is coming by 26/27 (maybe) my kid will be a JR and won’t be an issue for them either way.

The next ECNL podcast won’t say anything that will matter. Just like all the other podcasts they’ve had. They said it was more likely to happen then not they were wrong. They have no real power to change things otherwise they would have done it already.

If anything it will be a podcast of he said she said where they talk about what could happen.

You need a nail in your coffin, hope it will come soon.

I hope some stay BY, for your sake. I think any kind of "mandate" in a country of this size is a fool's errand. Open it up, give people the choice...if BY is really better, then those leagues will rise to the top, right?

Get a life pal wishing negative things for people over a kids game is embarrassing. Also sorry my wife and I happen to have kids during the favorable soccer months. I didn’t make you have kids in November.

You and your wife planned to have kids during 'favorable months' for soccer?? lol. And who is embarrassing?

Glad its just a kids game, lol. This forum is full of pathetic people calling other people pathetic. The entertainment is amazing.

Agreed, it will either be 8-1 or 9-1 for Fall 2026, not sure which until they announce. And Fall 2025 is up in the air in how teams adjust or if leagues make adjustments early.

They have not said much. They have mused about the issue. Talked about it but not in an action way.

I can't say enough that this is a fact: No one cares about the issue of trapped players. No one at ecnl and no one else. Of course they say stuff to sound like they care -- they are in the sales business. But they do not see it as mission critical or even important.

100% ECNL and USYS thought they could bully US Soccer into mandating SY for everyone.

US Soccer sidestepped their pressure and said everyone is free to do whoever they want in 2026. Sorry no mandate for ECNL.

There's all kinds of different outcomes that might happen in the near future. Or no changes at all.

I said happened to have kids during the favorable months. That means we didn’t plan it because I didn’t play soccer and didn’t care what sports they played.

There will 100 percent be changes. The question remains which leagues will change (some may not) and what the change will be (basically what is the school year cutoff going to be). To think nothing will happen at all with any of the leagues isn’t reasonable. But it’s also reasonable to believe some leagues won’t change.

BY mandate is exploding soon, said US Soccer.

Please make all the bets that you can that leagues stay BY.
