Sorry Q3/4 parents you lost and your kid still has to be slightly above average.

We're sorry for your loss. I know its hard to imagine your Q1 kid not having an artificial advantage any longer, but we'll off the BY advice. Have them try harder. Get private coaching. RAE will be over in several years so don't worry about it. And if they are any good, college coaches will find them. lol.

Good luck in 26! I hope for your sake it isn't sooner.

Troll so Hard.

lol. There are still BY fans here? Just because you put up 3 posts doesn't make it more impressive. Your day is over. I hope your kids locked in a scholarship. Hopefully they were able to show off their skills against kids a grade younger and they shined for their highlight reel. BY so was so dumb.

You're not even close but I guess that's an easy anecdote. The reality is you need to hate the game, not the players (or their parents). I didn't create this insane web of alphabet soup clubs nor the competitive structure we play in. I didn't create the best path to college recruiting, it was laid long before I got here. My daughter has a dream of playing college soccer. She's a very good 2013, playing up on NPL and Im figuring out what to do for next year. She trapped and its silly she doesn't have the option to play with her classmates but again, this is the game I was given. I'm not asking for change (somebody has to be impacted by RAE and my kid is good enough to overcome it) but if change is coming it's ideally this year. I'd hate for her to go ECNL and fall in love with a team for one season, only to switch everything around. My concern isn't making a team, its being on a top 10 national team and seeing it fall apart when we reshuffle.

Call me neurotic if its easier for you. Im doing what I can to learn this system and help my kid in every way possible for her future. I'd love a simpler, more easy going system but apprentely thats not an option in my area.

Meaning being a Helicopter and Snowplow parent.

All she has to do is focus on her individual development.
The rest is noise.

No college coach or scout cares about her team ranking, only about her performance.

I keep seeing this take and it’s so dumb. USSF already said anyone can change in 26/27 and ECNL USYS and AYSO already said they would change if they could. I think nothing at all will happen next year but I also think it’s delusional to think nothing changes in 26.

Just because USSF says they will allow teams to change things up doesn’t mean clubs want to deal with multiple age cut offs for various teams. Also many states have different SY cutoff dates for their grades so this would cause most states to be different unless they don’t mind trapping some kids as long as it’s less.

Also US Club has not said anything. Feel free to cite where US Club has even commented on this.

What does grade have to do with soccer?

When you watch a game, can you tell who's in what grade and their GPA?

Stupid moron, wait for the next ECNL podcast. Changing is coming.

Even if change is coming by 26/27 (maybe) my kid will be a JR and won’t be an issue for them either way.

The next ECNL podcast won’t say anything that will matter. Just like all the other podcasts they’ve had. They said it was more likely to happen then not they were wrong. They have no real power to change things otherwise they would have done it already.

If anything it will be a podcast of he said she said where they talk about what could happen.

US Club = ECNL for the purposes of this discussion and they have said plenty. Yet again intentionally ignoring the writing on the wall.

True that, coaches do hate parents. But they want their money real bad.

If ECNL cared about your trapped player they would have fixed it 7 years ago and anytime in between. They have done nothing and will continue to do nothing.

They've done nothing which is why we're here talking an an anonymous forum. However, the reason for the discussion is because they want to see it changed and said they will support the change. You clearly aren't around an ECNL club right now where actions are already taking place. We're trying to help you out by relaying our stories so you aren't blindsided when they do inevitably announce the change. But sure, keep your head in the sand and be SHOCKED when there is an age change either in 2026 or gradually implemented in 2025.

They did join with much of youth soccer to pressure US Soccer to remove the birth year age cutoff mandate for fall 2026.

Other than ECNL and the bulk of youth soccer changing the age cutoffs to school year in 2026, what other reason could they have for pressuring US Soccer remove the mandate?

I’ll believe it when I see it. Not just hear about a few clubs grouping players together for training.

I mean...did you see US Soccer's press release saying that they will remove the mandate and allow leagues to decide what is in their best interest?
