PLEASE do not turn this into a troll thread. I feel given the current events it's important to remember and discuss this episode. |
What’s also shocking is that this made it to TV at all and was not considered a big deal. Made it past all the writers, execs, and onto televisions without making a ripple.
The 90s was a different time. |
I am the OP of the Seinfeld thread that identified the issue with Jerry and George checking out the 15 yo. What happened to the thread?
Sorry, I was not able to tune in today to read responses. Thanks. |
Jeff said trolls overran it. I asked if I could repost because of the timeliness of the topic and how important it is with everything that's happening. |
And thanks for bringing it to attention. What an important topic. |
There is already a huge thread on this. |
What about that movie the Producers? Nazis and all that. |
I don't believe they were normalizing naziism in that movie. |
Wow. That's too bad. Thank you for your effort to continue the conversation. I have to say that I was taken aback by the responses defending the behavior. Even if we're fans of the show, I would think we'd be able to objectively identify inappropriate behavior by adults. In my world, the behavior was indisputably wrong on so many levels. But, as I said last night, over the past year or so I have accepted that I am likely living in a parallel universe from many, many people. Just fyi, I'd encourage folks to actually view the episode that I identified. The fact is that Jerry and George were told that she was 15 BEFORE she actually appeared on the episode. I think that's relevant. |
It’s funny you mention this. Every time I see this episode, I wonder how it wasn’t considered completely inappropriate. |
You are wrong. |
The whole point of the show is that Jerry et al are total asses. The joke is just how bad an inappropriate they always are. How can you have watched this show and not understand it?
It's like people who watch Mad Men and think Don is a cool character to emulate or Sopranos idiots who like Tony. |
Ummm... soooo many people think this. |
It's simply unacceptable, and there's no excuse. |
I never saw that whole episode...I just snuck a peek. |
