Most ecnl parents barely acknowledge ga , its another world or ecnl is the only world they know. Ecnl is a marketing machine..everyone in ecnl has bought in. The honest reality is if these leagues didn't exist, say everyone was in still in the USYS, all this grass-is-always-greener stuff STILL would exist. Instead of leagues, it'd be more focused on individual clubs.

I'm a GA parent with a non-starter that debated a move, but stayed on the team because she likes her teammates and the training and level of play. So, I don't blame any ECNL kid for doing the same. That being said, wresting with that decision didn't cause me to talk down to ECRL or Aspire parents. I think those are fine options. It's strange that ECNL parents are the only ones that punch down.

No parents go out of their way to put down GA. It’s only when people try and pretend like they are equal that you need to let them know that’s not true. It’s not a shot at GA to be the second best girls league. Anyone who has their feelings hurt by that needs to grow a pair.

GA is a good league especially if you’re on a national level qualifier team.

my daughter plays on a ga team. she has tried out and failed to make the local ecnl team 3 years. she has 2 more years to play and probably wont tryout again. she has accepted her level. our ga parents are obsessed with ecnl and our local ecnl team. they literally won't be friends with some of the parents on the ecnl team.may of the kids are friends on both teams, go to the same high schools etc. I can't even sit on the sidelines. if you think some ga parents don't obsess over ECNL, well you live in a fantasy world. ecnl is the better league, just some people can't accept it.

Well very similar to the parents of my daughters ga team. Some of the parents are insufferable with their focus on ecnl. Get over it. Enjoy your kid playing.

On my daughters ECNL team there is definitely a lot of discussion about how GA could be the better league as soon as a few big clubs flip to GA for NLS NEXT

Parents on my DD’s team wish there were a reason for clubs to flip to GA in its own right rather than because it’s better for the boys.

Parents on my DD’s team know there will be once clubs start flipping for MLS Next because if enough strong clubs move together, then by definition the girls side becomes stronger too.

If several major clubs move over for MLS Next and bring their girls programs with them, suddenly GA gets deeper overnight.

The strength of a league is the clubs and players inside it. If enough top clubs move, perceptions change very fast.

What’s the point if it’s not HG? And HG is pretty much full, can’t add too many more without dilution. So I think this pressure is pretty much played out.

Thats a good point. Maybe just a handful of additions + demoting a few underperforming HG clubs . It won't move the meter too far, will just balance ECNL and GA more.

I’m curious as well. I’ll do this sometimes if I don’t need to run to a store or exercise. It’s a hour and fifteen minute practice and a 25 minute drive each way. Not much sense in going home. I’m too old to sit in the car in the parking lot for that long without messing with back. I’m just reading or talking in the phone or chatting with other parents, not interfering with training.

It's not that you sit in a chair and watch practice. It's your close proximity to the field that feels a bit much and in fact does interfere with training.

A club in my area decided to leave GA for RL and parents were so upset that the girls side is basically imploding. Coaches and players all jumping ship.

Because RL who has good players and teams is still a 2nd league and does not get them same level of exposure as the GA showcases.
