In the aftermath of Weinstein scandal, TripAdvisor will no longer "arbitrarily censor or remove posts just because they may address an uncomfortable topic or be awkward."

| This is great news! I'm so tired of reading review of hotels/resort with tons of related posts. I understand that they cater to the industry, but they should also service the public. |

The story goes, that TripAdvisor kept deleting this women's post about being drugged and raped by security guard at Playa del Carmen, the luxury Mexican resort. But there are more being reported at these Mexican resorts. TripAdvisor is worried about being sued. Otherwise, they would not have changed their policy. TripAdvisor is pretty sleazy.

Wow. I just read her post from the article link and it is heart-wrenching and awful. It really makes me question Trip Advisor for censoring its reviews.
We have a trip planned to that area of Mexico in the spring and I am going to be much more aware of my surroundings. |

Another attack at Cabo San Lucas by a waiter.

Yes, TripAdvisor is very sleazy. They delete any forum posts that would negatively impact tourism.
This is particularly an issue in the Turks & Caicos forum. They suppress any mention of the rampant crime problem the main island had. A lady was assaulted and beat while jogging one morning, and she posted her experience on TripAdvisor to warn others. They deleted all of her posts. Thankfully I read them before they were deleted. Tripadvisor tries very hard to hide the facts of negative situations. Quite disgusting imo. |
| I have a nut allergy and posted a review stating that a resort we stayed at only had soap and bath products that contained almond oil. It was an issue because they didn't get me new soap until 2 days into our stay. TripAdvisor didn't post my review. I thought it was important for people to know that they should bring their own soap if they had a nut allergy and were planning to stay there, especially because it was a family friendly resort. |
| Thanks for the heads-up. I will take TripAdvisor with a mountainous grain of salt from now on. |
Wow you are high maintenance. It's not the resorts responsibility to prevent against every single allergy a customer may have. Everyone is allergic to something, so it's buyer beware. You're a prima donna. |
I disagree. Maybe if it was something like all the coffee was flavored with hazelnut then that could be avoided, but all the soap on the resort? Who brings their own soap with them to a resort? It's reasonable to expect to be able to wash your hands. |
You're missing the point in the most incredible way. TripAdvisor should allow such reviews on its website. Sadly, it's transpiring that anything with the potential of being life-threatening (nut allergy or assault) or sleazy is scrubbed from the site. Hopefully the recent news is a trend, not a one-time media sop. |
NP. You need your meds adjusted. |
I always travel with my own soap. I like Caress, so there are always at least a couple bars of it in my suitcase. Plus, if you can't use the hotel soap, go buy some! It's an item you can easily get from either the hotel store in the Libby, or a quick run to a nearby drugstore or even gas station. I think it's stupid that you expected the hotel to supply you alternative soap because your allergic to theirs. People who are that sensitive to things should carry their own soap. My child has excess. He never uses hotel soap or lotion. When we travel, I make sure I bring several bars of Dove and his lotion, so I don't have to worry about any unwanted reactions to the hotel products. Yes you are a high maintenance prima donna. Only in America does a person get angry that a hotel waited 2 days to replace soap, as if they have multiple soaps on deck to accommodate every single special need or allergy out their. Also, most hotels, the good ones anyway, will list their bath and body products on their website, so since you are so sensitive, I'm surprised you don't read the hotel website ahead of time to determine if you'll need to bring your own soap. Smh. |
Excess = Eczema |
You are a very weird and strange person. NP, btw. Strange and crazy. |
