TripAdvisor will now allow reviewers to name hotels where sexual assault occurred

WHAT will prevent hotel chain rivals to post unfavorable and fake reviews?

It was an issue because they didn't get me new soap until 2 days into our stay. TripAdvisor didn't post my review. I thought it was important for people to know that they should bring their own soap if they had a nut allergy and were planning to stay there, especially because it was a family friendly resort.

Wow you are high maintenance. It's not the resorts responsibility to prevent against every single allergy a customer may have. Everyone is allergic to something, so it's buyer beware. You're a prima donna.

I disagree. Maybe if it was something like all the coffee was flavored with hazelnut then that could be avoided, but all the soap on the resort? Who brings their own soap with them to a resort? It's reasonable to expect to be able to wash your hands.

I always travel with my own soap. I like Caress, so there are always at least a couple bars of it in my suitcase. Plus, if you can't use the hotel soap, go buy some! It's an item you can easily get from either the hotel store in the Libby, or a quick run to a nearby drugstore or even gas station.

I think it's stupid that you expected the hotel to supply you alternative soap because your allergic to theirs. People who are that sensitive to things should carry their own soap. My child has excess. He never uses hotel soap or lotion. When we travel, I make sure I bring several bars of Dove and his lotion, so I don't have to worry about any unwanted reactions to the hotel products.

Yes you are a high maintenance prima donna. Only in America does a person get angry that a hotel waited 2 days to replace soap, as if they have multiple soaps on deck to accommodate every single special need or allergy out their.

Also, most hotels, the good ones anyway, will list their bath and body products on their website, so since you are so sensitive, I'm surprised you don't read the hotel website ahead of time to determine if you'll need to bring your own soap. Smh.

I've never heard of 'nut based soaps'. It's pretty reasonable able to expect that soap doesn't have nuts in it. It's a common allergen and not a good choice for all of your soap products.

There are entire lines of hair and body care products based on nut oils. You need to get out more, PP.

Trip Advisor also wouldn't post my review of a restaurant that was run by a 'famous' chef who was recently accused of sexual harassment and maintaining a hostile work environment for female staff. The place felt uncomfortable for me, a female diner, and I wanted to warn other women about that. They kept bouncing it back to me for stating the facts about the complaints because it violated some stupid rule of theirs.

Nut soap or not - there is no reason for trip advisor to censor her review. It's creepy that they won't post reviews about crimes.

Good!! About time.

Wow. trip Advisor is disgusting.

Anonymous wrote:Yes, TripAdvisor is very sleazy. They delete any forum posts that would negatively impact tourism.

This is particularly an issue in the Turks & Caicos forum. They suppress any mention of the rampant crime problem the main island had. A lady was assaulted and beat while jogging one morning, and she posted her experience on TripAdvisor to warn others. They deleted all of her posts. Thankfully I read them before they were deleted.

Tripadvisor tries very hard to hide the facts of negative situations. Quite disgusting imo.

Was this in grace bay? Did the ever allow the review to stay up? Can you share any more info?

Yes it was in Grace Bay. They did not allow the lady's posts to stay up. They deleted and closed the thread, so she was silenced. Iirc, her screen name was sweetdee or sweetlittledee, something like that.

Several people have reported incidences of assaults, violence and breakins at their hotels and rental homes in Grace Bay on the Turks and Caicos forum on Tripadvisor, and those threads are quickly deleted and closed. Then the Turks Caicos advocates promptly start threads stating how great everything is there, beautiful weather, etc. It's crazy.

TripAdvisor knows which side of the bread is buttered. They advocate for the tourism businesses, and NOT the tourists. Rampant crimes occurring in resorts are swept under the carpet. They are complicit with the local governments to keep things quiet.

Only reason we learn about some crimes is because it happens to high profile people. For example, Supreme Court Justice Breyer and wife were robbed by a machete-wielding man in West Indies. If it happened to an average joe, it probably would not have made the news.

Just got back from T+C and was aware of the crime wave from the Trip Advisor forums - despite their incessant deletes to useful threads. I was hyper alert, but completely relaxed at our resort and on the beach. I asked locals about the crime and they all said the same thing - be aware of your surrounding and don't be flashy. The hurricane devastated most of the homes in the underdeveloped parts of the island. You can sense the resentment if you're paying attention. I don't think i'd rent a villa or private home but the resorts all have security.
