More importantly let everyone know about the statewide plan to eliminate advanced math.
VMPI has made these walkback statements and gone into hiding.

"Plan to eliminate advanced math"? LOL.

You sound like a dumb MAGA.

DP here and not sure why you are name-calling. I have tried to emailed LCPS board members and administrative staff and NONE will state definitively that my 4th grader will have access to acclerated math in 6th grade. If they have no plan to eliminate advanced math, why wouldn't they just say so? The current sample schedule online shows no accelerated math.

Check out the row for 4th and 5th graders. No advanced math.

Per the link it:
"Below is an example of a typical math progression by student/grade level."

The "typical" path is by default not advanced.

There is some advancement for 5th graders in that chart, less than this year's 6th graders, but they are still put on a path to calculus in 11th grade.
This is not there for the 4th graders.

So they have put in the typical progression to include advancement. Those of us in LCPS have seen these charts before, and they tend to include all pathways.

Another way to speak out might be to let realtors know about this. Perhaps it doesn't matter with the metro coming in, but they would care about a drop in house values caused by LCPS being removed as a good school district.

The LCPS Curriculum and Instruction committee meets on Tuesday. It is not clear how to register to speak at this committee meeting, or submit written comments.

Bumping this up. Anyone monitoring the LCPS Curriculum and Instruction meeting?

I wanted to but it conflicted with my child's virtual info night for the next grade.

Then you probably are already an R voter. Those of us that were trying to swallow our souls to stomach voting R on this are relieved not to have to do this. I took screen shots of the session and the clear language about not banning advanced classes / acceleration. I frankly doubt McAuliffe wants to court this trouble by reversing the walk back if he’s elected. (Other D candidates might though). I’ll leave my protest vote for the next FCPS SB election...

I don't get a sign that FCPS is changing anything in response to VMPI. Their issue is with TJ and other equity initiatives.
Other districts are changing, and they are still pushing behind the scenes to end acceleration and tracking.

Yes but several board members on FCPS are clearly just there to be political actors. Frisch and Omeish for instance have no business on the board. The board desperately needs - McLaughlin can’t do it all alone.

The posts about Omeish are being deleted totally from this forum. A couple old ones and few new- no hate speech, nothing like that. Still, deleted

Maybe she or one of her supporters reported it.

The chart with the new pathways for math in LCPS has been removed. It is not clear when it was removed, as Wayback did it's last screenshot in April.

It’s almost like they pulled the trigger too early on that one...

School board meeting today at LCPS. There is a group called FightForSchools PAC that is looking to recall many members over the issue of critical race theory. They will be collecting petitions hours before the school board meeting at 4, then giving comments before the meeting.

So, a bunch of Trumpers?

Yes. It is also the best chance to keep advanced math for the current elementary school kids as they enter middle school.

Correction, school board meeting is Tuesday.
