Your first article, from Los Angeles (?) in 1995 (??) is sympathetic to city legislators who have a hard time developing their careers while also serving as legislators. Mary Cheh isn't developing a career, she's already a tenured professor. Maybe you aren't very familiar with academia, but there's really not much work that goes in to teaching the same class year after year.
And 245 years of history tells us that politicians' ethics scandals have very little to do with outside employment. In any event, you've moved the goalposts all the way from "Mary Cheh should resign her outside work because the pool project is going badly" to "double dipping is uncommon in American civics" and again to "Mary Cheh should resign her outside work because ethics, or something, and here are two articles about Jack Evans." I look forward to seeing where you'll move them next! |
| Oh god, I don't care. you're right - all DC Councilmembers should collect full living salaries from taxpayers, while fighting for statehood,.combatting rising violence, fighting social ills, supervising park renovations, dealing with education and Covid, answering constituent calls, attending hearing and meetings AND work 2nd jobs. You got me! |
| When is Mary Cheh going to open her pool in Cleveland Park? will she show her face there? I see them scraping that field for the third time. Wasn’t it supposed to open in 2020? |
|
LOL, you keep on with this.
Cheh's job was to get the money. She did that. It is DGS's job to oversee the construction. The only thing a councilmember can do is convene meetings and hold feet to the fire. Cheh has been doing that. If you have complaints about the construction, then the Mayor's office is your friend. |
Cheh holding feet to the fire??? Haha. That's why the project is two years late? If, as you claim, she was paying attention as the project foundered, she was totally ineffective. Maybe we need someone in there who doesn't just ignored. I have to admit she bores the hell out of me every time I hear her. |
If you think you could do better, then go and run, 2022 is an election year. I doubt you will though, because it is sooooo much easier to just complain behind an anonymous message board without the facts. |

Sorry
I wish Cheh had as much energy as you do - waking up in the morning to defend her reputation as a feckless leader. |
| I hope someone younger runs against Cheh. Upper Caucasia could use more youthful representation. |
Sorry, not an office minion, just someone who has been involved with Hearst and seen what her office has done and what the Executive Branch hasn't done. |
“Someone who is involved with Hearst” hahahaah |
| I have been to countless Hearst meetings over the years, I live nearby. Why is that a Hahahahahaha? |
| The pool is soooo tiny and has nothing fun for kids (water feature etc). Next to it are massive tennis courts, knowing that the previous ones were rarely used before. Makes no sense. All this fuss for a whimper of a pool. |
It's the same size as almost all of the other DPR pools. |
Why no fun water feature? It's so small and boring |
