Mary Cheh has turned Cleveland Park/Cleveland Park North into her personal political asset

Here is the group thread on the pool. Please show the excerpt of a post where Cheh is getting "heat"

Oh, hey, someone who signs their name who understands where responsibility for the project lies

https://groups.io/g/clevelandpark/message/178771

I have several questions regarding this, first and foremost is the field. Does the certificate of occupancy mean tha the field is completed? There is a fence around the field still. In September of 2019, I wrote and asked that the work on the field be completed first to allow the neighborhood use of the field sooner. DPR told me this was not possible for safety reasons, yet now there is a smaller fence all around the field. We are now going on 3 years without use of the field and I do not see an end date for this. It seems that since day one, the emphasis has been on the pool and nothing else. Can the tennis courts be used? Are we really just talking about a pool that cannot be used this season anyway?

Will any heads roll at DPR? This project has been a fiasco since day one with DPR not responding to neighbors since fall of 2019. Since the city is able to take down heritage trees willy nilly on this site, why can’t the rest of the neighborhood do the same?

Having now read the whopping 5 posts on the Cleveland Park listserv, I think I have figured out the problem. The person quoted above lives in an alternative universe, because there is literally not one word critical of Cheh in any of the posts on the topic.

An alarm has been going off at the Hearst Park pool equipment area since late morning. Blue Skye Construction’s foreman isn’t answering texts/calls, 311 doesn’t pick up, and three patrol cars full of MPD can’t figure out how to stop it. According to the neighbor across the street, one lovely young officer said, "hopefully the battery will run out soon—this is awful”.
CM Cheh claimed in a message on August 10 that she was "knocking heads" to get this project finished. Sadly, one month later, this is where we find ourselves. The pool has not been finished. The tennis courts have no surface. The soccer field is bare dirt. And for all we know, the vaunted sump pump that is taking the underground stream and rerouting it to the stormwater system because the City failed to do proper hydrology work in advance has failed. 25 months in, and we still have an ugly unusable mess, and to add insult to injury, the prospect of these alarms going off with no way to stop them.
CM Cheh, we ask that you get results - something you have failed to do after working hard to get the money for this project and pushing it through. No matter what you may say now, there are many citizens who know the role you played, and as you remain the representative for this area, you are still accountable for getting the District to answer questions and perform. You should be going to fellow members of the Council who chair the oversight committees for DPR and DGS and insisting they get answers and performance. I expect that your credibility with respect to the school construction projects now being debated will be adversely affected by the abysmal Hearst project.
District citizens who are concerned about the dereliction on this project using taxpayer dollars may wish to register concern and a demand to get it finished not only with CM Cheh but also with CM Robert White who chairs the Committee on Government Operations, rwhite@..., and CM Trayon White who chairs the Committee on Recreation, twhite@.... Perhaps if they get sufficient contacts, they will pay attention.

See above Cheh defender. You should do your homework. And so should Cheh.

As mentioned before. Your mindless defense of Cheh does not do her any favors. Sit down. Be quiet. You are not helping her.

Re the things you bolded...she has done those things. So once again, I ask, what should she be doing that she hasn't already done? Whose heads should she be knocking, that she hasn't already knocked?

Maybe if the person who posted that (you?) did their homework, they would know these things have been done, multiple times, over the last two years.

Wait, the pool hadn't been finished a month and a half after Mary Cheh said that she was "knocking heads?" My stars! Quelle horreur!

1. You said nobody criticized her on the CP listserve and I just proved you were wrong. {Thanks for amplifying you were wrong by highlighting the bold part of my post}.

2. Why would she wait three years to knock heads if she was effective? Good public advocates are not three years behind the times on important projects in their jurisdiction.

3. She is not effective. Nobody cares what she has to say. Proof point; The pool is not open.

Oh. I am PP, but have never posted on the CP listserve - ever. Cheh has many critics.

1. I'm a different poster - believe it or not, multiple people correctly perceive you as an ignoramus!

2. Why would Mary Cheh knock heads before the project started?

3. This is known as "affirming the consequent." It is a logical fallacy. You should consider the ways in which your thinking is deeply, profoundly flawed. But, given the preponderance of evidence from the past 10 pages, you're just going to ignore this post, and bleat some more about how she is ineffective.

Then they should run against her and bleat on against the pool and the school and library modernatization that she supported.

The question is not "Why would Mary Cheh knock heads before the project started?"

The question is why did she wait three years to begin knocking heads? Three years when public park was closed - for a project she launched.

You are a bad debater.

DP...she didn't wait three years. She has been on this from the outset. The email from August 10th was another boiling point. Why is this hard to understand?

You asked why she waited three years to begin knocking heads. I'm curious - have you ever managed a team before (setting aside for a moment the established fact that Mary Cheh does not and should not be expected to manage construction projects)? I'm asking in good faith. If you haven't managed anybody before, then perhaps this comes as a surprise: you do not preemptively knock heads. You do not knock heads when a project gets underway.

Additionally, you quite obviously ignored my point about your logical fallacy. You think you are a good debater, but you are not.

What ever - you have stopped making any sense.
