| What’s the latest on recruiting for the local clubs? For NL, recently saw a Georgetown commit. For Wolves, saw one for MIT and Fairfield. How are the other clubs doing? |

It's who you know. And club willing to make the connections for your. OR they know how to game things and get on the Max Top 150 list. There are kids listed there now and who will easily go D1 b/c of it wo having made it to Nexus championship. It's insane to me. Which is why people acknowledge that D1 is not really talent-based, at least alone. It takes politics and knowing how to use the system. |

Without question you need your DD club coach to present her positively to college coaches- both as a player and person if the college contacts them. I agree that making Nexus C and/or Max 150 is helpful in opening doors. At the end of the day though, the most important thing is playing well in front of the colleges at their clinics, Lineup, showcase t. . . The college coaches need to win for job security. They may give a sixth offer at the end to a player on a preferred club, but the kids getting early offers and the vast majority of offers in general are for players that the schools think will help them win. Those of you who post that recruiting didn't work out because of your kid's club coach, the system, etc just come across as bitter. |

So what? My kid had a d1 fh offer and turned it down (fit). That was in spite of the club, not b/c of it. Our club could have done more with their contact and chose not to. So, if I'm bitter, that's a rightful and valid reaction. |

Actually, the most important thing for playing at Georgetown is being a player who can get the grades, while also knowing how to place decent field hockey. They like to commit players they know will get in academically, with or without field hockey. |

| Freedom showing at Shooting Star Showdown not great. Next Level did terrible. Warhawks went undefeated. Washington Wolves look like they did fairly well. Better competition this weekend at Shooting Star Jamboree (i.e. WC Eagles, Metro HC, Saints, Husel and Hammers) |

Many teams are dealing with absences due to schedule conflicts. College Connection and USAFH have a partnership, yet many sites had Nexus last weekend. Additionally, more college coaches attend Showdown than Jamboree which is why the competition at Showdown is always tougher. Plus, tournaments like Showdown are a highlight for those looking to be recruited. The real test will be RCCs. |

You just know this is a Freedom PP because Freedom went to Shooting Star Showdown (formerly called SS Easter) and PP said it’s a “tougher” tournament. This is not true at all. DD has attended both Showdown and Jamboree in the past and Jamboree is the better showcase - more college coaches in attendance and better teams. IYKYK. Wouldn’t be surprised if next year Freedom goes to Jamboree instead. |

NP and not a freedom parent. I had always heard Easter SS was tougher than Jamboree. This year, I thought they seemed more even. I don’t know if it has to do with not falling on Easter, or because Showdown fell closer to spring break for many. Anyway, not arguing your point, just wondering if this is a shift. |

I was told by a friend at SS, that the WC teams are not their top teams. Not even the top couple of teams. |
